AMC's Erica Kane gets Real!

On August 20th, longtime AMC character Erica Kane is taking her show New Beginnings abroad! TV Guide reports "Erica will go on location to Kenya with her talk show New Beginnings to bring attention to the starving children of that nation. She will return a changed woman." Headwriter Charles Pratt had this to say about it "“Erica has always been daytime’s Scarlett O’Hara—it’s why we adore her—and it was fun watching her thrive during the Me Generation,” notes AMC head writer Chuck Pratt. “But now it’s time to get her into the real world.” This plot change was triggered by Susan Lucci's recent visit to Kenya with GH's Anthony Geary (Luke) and Kelly Monaco (Sam), on behalf of the organization Feed the Children. Footage from their trip will air in the "Daytime Gives Back" part of this year's Daytime Emmy awards, which air August 30th on the CW. AMC decided to shoot sequences of Lucci as Kane while in Kenya.
