OLTL: David Vickers returns! Matthew proves he's Asa's grandson yet again when he ups the stakes on Rach. This is a pretty big secret Tea has under wraps as Todd wants Ellijah to represent him. I didn't want to overload with clips, but Blair hires Rex to investigate Tea. Nice to see them mix it up onscreen.

THE BUZZ LIST #1

Introducing Soaps-Now!'s latest feature, which will be one of our biggest, "The Buzz List!" The Buzz List will be a monthly list compiling the top 15 attention getters on the site. Starting next month, the list will be featured at the beginning of the month.

Top 15 most "buzzed about" as of 8/7/09


15. Thom Bierdz (Phillip, Y&R)- Y&R's resident back-from-the-dead storyline participant found himself at #15 on our list. First attention was garnered when the news first broke that his character would be gay, as Bierdz is in real life. More news came as we evaluated Bierdz's return to Y&R, and as Bierdz was an integral part of featured Y&R segments of the day. Lets see if Bierdz will move up on the list as he recently finished up and interview with us.

14. Robin Strasser (Dorian, OLTL) - OLTL's Robin Strasser gained attention this month partially due to her contract situation this month! We'd almost thought that our fav OLTL diva would be exiting, but come to find out, she's not done yet! She also dished in her input on the AMC situation, and was heavily featured in best of OLTL segments.


13. Laura Wright (Carly, GH) - Laura Wright in at #13 on the Buzz. She's been up and front in storylines and featured heavily in the best of GH's scenes. With that said, Wright has two honorable mention nominations for our Performer of the Week award. Keep it up Laura!

12. Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R) - The Moustache comes in at #12. As usual Victor is always at the center, especially when recently he was up in Billy's face! It has also been rumored that the actor is facing a pay cut, and we wonder just what is he going to do?

11. Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R) - We took a sigh of relief when #11 on our list re-signed! However our brains went to twitching when it was revealed that Nikki would exit the show in someway, but comeback. At first it was presumed Nikki would die, however that turned out to be the late Zapato, then some rumors that the role would be recast. Well all we know is that N&V vans can shout hooray!

10. Tricia Cast (Nina, Y&R) - This girl has been front and center since she came back. Tricia Cast has shared the Performer of the Week award with Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton for the week of July 6, and was nominated three other times! Tricia needs to keep this up, so give her a man so Nina will rock even more.

9. Stacy Haiduk (Patty/MJ, Y&R) - Look at our girl, my favorite psychopath! Well not her wonderful portrayer Stacy Haiduk, but her character, Patty/MJ! No one would have ever thought AMC's Hannah Nichols would have turned it out like this! This just has us wondering how TPTB will restore Patty. Haiduk won the Performer of the Week for the week of June 29, and was nominated three other times! Her storyline has been red hot, and we're hoping it stays that way.

8. Brett Claywell (Kyle, OLTL) - It seems like a guarantee that one half of Kish would be present in the Buzz, and that half is Brett Claywell. Claywell has been on fire and went from lab rat to criminal hunk in a snap of fingers. He was nominated for Performer of the Week for June 29. But most of his buzz comes from the on screen kiss shared between he and Scott Evans' Oliver Fish this week. Claywell lit up the screen, and has transformed into a star. No doubt he'll be in the running for Performer of the Week this week. Keep it up Brett!

7. John Driscoll (Chance, Y&R) - I know, I was like WOW too when Y&R's newbie landed on the first Buzz List. Maybe it's because of all the buzz surrounding his debut. Even before he debuted there was speculation that was later confirmed false that his character would be made gay, instead his father, portrayed by Thom Bierdz, #15. He's also spawned Elizabeth Hendrickson's Chloe to call him the "Hot-Grown-Up-Guy-Virgin" which may be the Quote of the Year! He also did a Huntington's Disease PSA which his character got tested for. Can Driscoll keep it up for the next round

6. Sarah Brown (Claudia, GH) - If you get to the point where you feel sorry for the ruthless Claudia Zacharra, people may think something's wrong. But it's not, because she made soft Claudia work as she was grieving for her baby in the past weeks! She also took the Performer of the Week away from her several competitors for the week of July 20, and there was also speculation she may be leaving when her contract is up. Keep us feeling this way about Claudia, and we'll be fighting mad if you leave Sarah.

5. Sean Kanan (Deacon, Y&R) - Y&R's newcomer landed on our list this time at #5, perhaps because we had the pleasure of interviewing Kanan a few weeks ago, and posted features of Kana's prime when he was on B&B and GH, and is currently heating up the screen on Y&R.

4. Drew Garrett (Michael, GH) - Now everyone knows the hottest young actor in daytime, was going to be somewhere on here. I mean Drew Garrett has been smokin' every since he debut as GH's Michael Corinthos. Move over Jason Morgan, there's a new bad boy in town. Garrett has been a runner-up for Performer of the Week for four weeks, and the award has only been given for six! So I'm confident that soon Garrett will steal the prize away! The young actor has also been a key part in GH, being featured in several video recaps.

3. Billy Miller (Billy, Y&R) - In the first draft of Buzz List, I thought someone was most notably missing. I went back and saw that it was Billy Miller, and that he was near the top of the list! Jack's on-screen lil'bro was the #4 talked about person on Soaps-Now! so far. Miller has been great, with the exception of the horrid Billy/Mac mess, which does him shame, but even with that on his shoulders, he was recently earned the Performer of the Week award for July 27.

3. Daniel Goddard (Cane, Y&R) - Anyone else think being exposed as a fraud, being given your wedding ring back and given the evil eye by everyone in town good enough to be #3 on our Buzz List. Well if you don't think it was enough Daniel Goddard was in fact the third top talked about person on our site so far! Cane battles double duty with the Phillip-returns mess, and now reuniting with his wife so that Lane is restored! Keep it up Goddard! Goddard was nominated for Performer of the Week for July 20 and July 13.

2. Christel Khalil (Lily, Y&R) - Right before her on-screen hubby, Y&R's Christel Khalil lands the runner-up position in this edition of Buzz List. Her character battled ovarian cancer this summer, and is set to start chemotherapy also on daytime's #1 rated sudser. Khalil's quick-paced yet heart-wrenching storyline has been riveting, and the reason why Khalil earned her spot atop this month's list! Khalil was nominated for Performer of the Week for July 20, and also had a PSA to air after an episode of Y&R.



1. Molly Burnett (Melanie, DAYS) - Look who's at #1. My most improved, and believe me she will be on that list at the end of the year, Molly Burnett! You can't say my girl Molly hadn't been on fire lately, somewhat due in part to her smokin' hot pairing with Mark Hapka's Nathan Horton, which I hope doesn't end soon. Lock Phillip in a closet please, away from Melanie! Anyway, Burnett was an honorable mention for Performer of the Week for the week of , and has been front & center for previews for DAYS and the Video of the Year so far: DAYS' Strip Poker! I mean this girl even got Nelson Branco to say she was soaring alongside her co-stars now, when she used to be his #1 hairmodel in daytime. Keep it rollin' Molly!

Riegel, Strasser dish on the move, and Wishful Things!

AMC's Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca) spoke to Daytime Confidential about All My Children's move to LA.

"Of course selfishly I am thrilled that my AMC family may be moving here," says Riegel. "I miss Alicia [Minshew], Cam [Mathison], and Susan [Lucci] so much, and New York is way too far away. And I hope that the Production team, crew, and hair, makeup and wardrobe departments will be making the move as well.

Jamey Giddens of DC also said: After so many years of incredible work, they are as much a part of the family as anyone." Wouldn't it be positively groovy if AMC could lure West Coast-based AMC alums like Riegel, Tamara Braun (ex-Reese), Alexa Havins (ex-Babe), Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie), Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) and Robin Christopher (ex-Skye) back to the canvas now that the show will be filming in their neck of the woods?

This could finally reboost All My Children, definitely if their vets, Susan Lucci, Darnell Williams, Michael E. Knight, Debbi Morgan, David Canary, and also stars Beth Ehlers and Alicia Minshew, Jacob Young, Chrishell Stause, Mellisa Claire Egan, Ricky Paull Goldin would make the move most importantly. Hopefully the future of the African American aspect of the cast, Cornelius Smith Jr. and Shannon Kane could make the move too, what about J.R. Martinez? But then after all of these people hopefully will re-commit to the show wouldn't it be awesome if Riegel, Tamara Braun, and Rebecca Budig would come back? Could Alexa Havins come back as Babe from the dead with Justin Bruening's Jamie? I mean especially since Knight Rider is cancelled, even though I'm still holding out the hope for my wishful casting of Chris Engen as Jamie Martin, and now the show is closer to him! I think with having the the traditional vets, and with Lisa de Cazzotte at the EP helm, that the fashiony, young adult atmosphere that it has completely decimated.

Robin Strasser had this to say to Soap Opera Weekly:

Robin Strasser: I will say for the record that I called Frank [Valentini, executive producer] at about 3:15 yesterday. I said, "Frank, Frank, I hope you're happy to hear this but I can't, I can't...I have to say 'yes'. Whatever ABC wants to pay me is okay, I just love what I do and I can't continue in this holding pattern. 'Yes, I'm in, I'm in. Send me a contract, I'll sign it.' He said, 'Okay. That's great. I'll call legal and we'll close this up.' And then I said, 'So what about the rumors?' He said, 'Well, it's a secret until 5 o'clock today.' " Now this was at 3:15. He said, "ALL MY CHILDREN will move to LA and ONE LIFE TO LIVE will move into their studio." I almost screamed into the telephone bursting an eardrum on the man. I'm trusting and wishing the best for ALL MY CHILDREN. They've got some great real estate they're moving to in LA. And there's a lot of great opportunities for renting and buying the personal residences. And then our show apparently is going to get at least 30-50 percent more studio space so that our big concept productions and efficiency can be ramped up. Frank has found better and better ways to make a great show but does it cost effectively because if we don't do it that way we'll be joining GUIDING LIGHT. I'm so proud to be part of that solution.

OLTL vet Robin Strasser staying!

OLTL's Robin Strasser (Dorian) announced via her hotline that she is indeed staying on the hot-should-be-ABC's #1 soap. This is some of what Strasser had to say:

"My dear friends, a heart attack has been averted," The whole deal of continuing to play Dorian. I can't allow it to be about money. It's paycut time. Daytime is hanging on a thread... I believe that. I get it." "Picture me on your TV. I'm signing the contract, yay for me. I will be with you for years to come,"

Strasser's news may have been the big story if it weren't for the big announcement today. This is what Strasser had to say about that:

"When I did crossover and appearances on AMC, I was ravaged with jealousy," "Their real estate is so superior. Their big building. Everybody has big dressing rooms. The hallways have windows with views of the river"

Strasser also wished the cast and crew well in the transition.

OLTL Wants Their Guy, What AMC should wish - and suggestions!

..And that guy happens to be Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, GL; ex-Scott,AMC). In March, Daytime Confidential told us that the show was interested in having Gina Tognoni (soon-to-be-ex-Dinah, GL, ex-Kelly, OLTL) an Just thinking, what if Cosgrove went back to AMC as Scott, currently portrayed by Adam Mayfield. Even though I think Mayfield is doing pretty well (and I believe was Nelson's "packaged" blind item from a few weeks ago), I'd like to see Scott spar off with JR and Adam (Jacob Young and David Canary), but don't put him with Marissa (Brittany Allen) whom I liked to begin with, but is becoming boring and old. CP shows us that Marissa has a tiny bad streak, then even suggests that she's in the same league as her father David (Vincent Irizarry)! Or is it the not-fire red hair? Make this girl blond like her sister, and make her evil as her father is!

Now back to OLTL and Cosgrove, Carolyn Hinsey confirms in her New York Daily News column that OLTL is interested in the actor portraying Joey Buchanan, the arguably most recasted adult character in soap opera history (7 times), who last appeared on the regular from 2003-2004 when Bruce Michael Hall brought him back to town, but is notably portrayed by ABC's Castle actor, Nathan Fillion from 1994-1997, and Fillion appeared as the character in 2007 for Asa's funeral. If she stays, could you see Cosgrove heating it up on the screen with Robin Strasser (Dorian)? LOL, I don't know what to make of that yet. Or if she returns, his current-soon-to-be-ex-GL co-star Gina Tognoni as Kelly Cramer, Joey's ex-wife. As Kelly last brought to town by Heather Tom, (ex-Victoria on Y&R and current Katie on B&B) from 2003-2006, is currently married to Joey's bro Kevin, bring him back also! I think Kevin needs a new look other than former portrayer Dan Gauthier (2003-2006;2007). I don't know who could do that now, but I'll tell you when I find out or stick with Gauthier. Now with some more Buchanans and Cramers in town, bring Zack Conroy (James, GL and some mean teenage dude on ATWT. LOL) or Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL, ex-Jonathan, AMC) as the first male Cramer (not counting Jack and Sam Manning) in town, and the second male Cramer to wreak havoc over Llanview since that sincerely, baby-switching Paul Cramer (last portrayed by David Tom, who was also Billy #1 on Y&R and Heather Tom's brother!). We'll keep ya updated!

THIS JUST IN: Is Robin Strasser Out?

It's almost announcement time for Robin Strasser (Dorian, OLTL). Nelson Branco of TV Guide Canada and Soaps.com have given us the tips that Strasser will have a big announcement on her phone hotline, sometime tonight!
