In today's Primetime Splash, we talk about the new episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation (US's The N/Canada's CTV).

Main Stars Today: are Charlotte Arnold (Holly J Sinclair), Shane Kippel (Spinner Mason), Aislinn Paul (Clare Edwards), Sam Earle (K.C. Guthrie)
Also Appearing:
are Jordan Hudyma (Blue Chessex), Paula Brancati (Jane Vaughan), Jamie Johnston (Peter Stone), Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones), Dalmar Albuzeid (Danny van Zandt), Raymond Ablack (Sav Bhandari), Melinda Shankar (Alli Bhandari), AJ Saudin (Connor)
Today's episode was a shocker. Well you know THE N basically gives away the episode in the promos. But you know how this go on teen dramas, such as Degrassi. But in order to explain that, I'll start with the beginning. Blue wants Holly J to go with the winter dance with him, and asks her in a romantic way. She rebuffs it, as she has feelings for her co-worker, who turns out to be Spinner. However she keeps this secret from everyone including Blue and Spinner who is in love with Jane. Spin and Holly close up The Dot, and he agrees to take her home, as the sort of connect a bit. Then an customer comes in wanting a burger. He gets hostile as Holly wants him to leave but Spin says that they can make just one hamburger. When Holly still refuses, the customer pulls out a gun, and wants the money in the cash register and the safe. When getting the money out of the safe, Spin pulls out a bat, but the customer, who is a former Lakehurst student who remember Holly, threatens them more. There is a knock at the door and it is Blue, who still can't understand why Holly won't go with him to the dance. She plays it off as he leaves, but she writes with her finger "gun" on the door and eyes it as Blue sees it. Soon later the police and bystanders slowly show up. Holly and Spin try to compromise with the customer, but he ends up shooting Spinner. At that moment we heard a gun shot, then Spin's face but you know myself, and probably others thought that the shot went through the wall, but Spin's arm was bleeding! Holly then runs to help him, the shooter thinks she's calling someone but she goes to get napkins. The shooter then apologizes and says it was an accident. He pleads that he didn't want this to happen. He begins to talk about how Holly has everything, but she reassures him everything about she's not a cheerleader anymore and how her father lost his job. She also says that she's in love with the idiot who tried to play hero, but he has a girlfriend that he loves. He then agrees to come out with Holly. When the police storm them and Holly tells the police that the shooting was accidental. Holly misses the dance to go see Spinner and Holly tells her he is the only one that understands her and they get along well.
In the other story, Connor and tricks KC and Clare and lock them downstairs together. They mend things between each other and have their first kiss at the winter dance.

Until next time, Primetime Splash!

The Suds Report Recap!

Check out the latest Suds Report from TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco!

Still reports of AMC moving to LA! And, is Walt Willey being forced out and Susan Lucci forced to recurring?

ABC is seriously considering moving production from New York to L.A. to ensure the soap’s future. “If not, either One Life or AMC is cancelled within the year,” a reliable source told me last weekend. After DC.com broke the news earlier this week, Pine Valley sources informed The Suds Report, “that all hell broke loose on set. Several actors ran to the producers pleading for confirmation. The producers claimed they were just planning a location shoot in L.A. We don’t know what to believe.” Problem is the network heads, according to my moles, hadn’t told anyone yet because they are still trying to figure out all the logistics. “There could be an announcement as early as next week, but DC.com’s [bombshell] could have scared off ABC, so who knows what will happen now.” Ah, the power of the press. Is Walt Willey (Jackson) being phased out? That’s what sources are telling Suds. Don’t expect the contract player to appear in Pine Valley “for a while; they want to force him on recurring,” maintains an insider. ABC is also trying to figure out a way to throw Susan Lucci (Erica) on recurring, offers a major network insider. “She just costs too much,” he/she explained. Don’t worry, fans — the network doesn’t know how they will pull this off, but they’re trying to find a way to do it. Hello: L.A.!

According to Soap Opera Weekly, the Emmy winner told fans at GH’s annual fan club luncheon that she is thinking of bolting the Emmy-winning series thanks to the crappy writing. I guess she learned from Steve Burton (Jason).

Y&R's Grown-Up-Hot-Guy-Virgin

As Chloe put it "I've never met a grown up virgin...or a guy virgin..or a hot guy virgin!". Michael Fairman chatted with Y&R's John Driscoll (Chance) in his "Soapside" column on Advocate.com The full interview will be posted tomorrow, but here's a preview:

“I was trying to do some homework before I started on Y&R. One of the soap websites said there might be a budding relationship between Mac, Chloe, and ... Rafe? And I said, 'Rafe. What? That does not sound like a female’s name.'” [Laughs] This character has been gone such a long time they don’t know what his sexual orientation is. Is he gay, straight, what’s the deal? I thought, You know what? If it’s going to play that’s way, that’s OK.

I actually worked opposite Christian Campbell, formerly of All My Children, where he played Bobby Warner. We had this romance on the show, and if the series had not been canceled, you would have seen the budding relationship between our two characters. It was really funny doing double duty while I was doing Guiding Light. During the day I was having bedroom sexual scenes with a female, and then at night on set in bed with a man. It was crazy. I needed a couple of drinks!”

Driscoll weighs in on Chance’s virginal ways and if this could really mean something else. “Honestly, who knows? As of right now they are playing him as if he is not gay. At this point, Chloe [played by Elizabeth Hendrickson] is the object of his affection, and he is attracted to her. Chance respects her, and there is a spark and energy between them.”
Check back with Advocate.com for the full interview tomorrow.

OLTL's Kish Talks

Nelson Branco recently interviewed daytime's hottest duo, Kyle (Brett Claywell) and Fish (Scott Evans) for Out.com. The give insight into the couple's future, and how it is for an out man to portray a gay character on daytime, and for a straight guy from the South playing a gay role.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

The characters will share a kiss on August 6. What was it like taping a same-sex smooch?
SE: I don’t think it’s what people are expecting. The kiss comes from a different place. People will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Were you guys nervous filming the kiss at all? Did you guys have to go out and get drunk the night before?
SE: From the beginning, Brett and I have been friends. He’s extremely easy to work with. Of course, there are nerves, but that happens every day when you come into work. I think we went in with the intent that we’re both professionals --
BC: Throughout this entire process I had to confront a lot of my beliefs in my life, in my acting and my career. I came to realize the job of an actor is to tell the truth of a character truthfully. Whatever emotion you’re supposed to have, whether it’s love, hate, or jealousy, you must honor those emotions. That day wasn’t hard for me because Kyle truly loves Fish. While I’m in that character, that’s what I portray -- love for Fish, which is where this upcoming kiss originates. The kiss comes from love not passion.

Brett, it’s been beautiful to see you grow and blossom these last few months as an actor.

[Joking.] Have you guys figured out who the top and bottom is yet?
SE: The focus of this storyline is not [sexual yet]. The writers are trying to be respectful to the serious nature of Fish’s [internal homophobia]. It’s not like Kish is going to be, “We’re out! I’m gay! We’re lovers!” The physical nature of their relationship probably won’t be addressed for some time. The love story is going to evolve slowly.
BC: We’ve been really proud to act out the internal conflict. One Life is focusing on the deeper aspects of the story. And we hope they continue to.

It’d be nice if they did that with their opposite sex romances. Brett, Kyle follows Fish around like a lost puppy, often staring at him from across a bar longingly. As of press time, it appears to the audience that Kyle’s love in unrequited. How do you convey his pain and love without making Kyle look like a delusional stalker?
BC: It’s easy because I’ve been in love many times in my life. And my heart has been broken many times in my life. My performance comes from a genuine, real place. To me it’s not acting, it’s more being.

And luckily, so are the fans. Now the most important question in this interview: Do you guys wear briefs or boxers?
BC: [Laughs.] I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough.
SE: Use your imagination!

Tuesday Observations!

Hi peeps, and welcome to the first edition of Soaps-Now!'s Today's Observations. Keep in mind this is a trial run, and I'm going to see how it works out. I've felt a need to post opinions separately, saving recaps for recapping only. I'll report on the soaps I've watched for the day, which is usually all ABC's and Y&R, and occasionally I'm not a frequent watcher, but I do review B&B, GL, and definitely ATWT, so I'll keep ya up sometimes. For now the summer, I don't see DAYS untill the next morning on SOAPnet, so all DAYS observations will be a day behind. So today's recap will be Monday's episode. However, after the summer, DAYS may turn into a review instead of frequent, like the others. So with all of the explanations over, lets get to it!!

All My Children: For all my "tweeps" I tweeted today that the Stuart storyline makes me feel like I'm running in circles. Same stuff, If I hear Kendall say she's gonna turn her self in on more time....ahh! I feel for Mellisa Claire Egan (Annie), whose most likely begging to be sane, as she's not cutting it when she's not sane, or deranged, outraged or sociopathic. Can't wait till Scott gets out of a suit, the character needs to be developed to Adam Mayfield. I just got my ABC SID today, I think it was a bit late, my re-subscription was late also thought, but anyway to sum up what Chuck Pratt says is that people may be "frustrated" by the ongoing mystery, and that when it breaks, it's going to be BIG! He also says the good thing about the story is that the reveal will be the beginning of the next major arc on the show. Eh, sounds like primetime. He also says anyone who thinks they know who is the killer is wrong, and they have switched it up, and done everything right! He still says that Dixie's death is tied up with Stuart's killer but it's not essential to solving the storyline at all. Whew, that's a lot. We'll just wait 'n see..

As the World Turns: Is it just me or are your first impressions of Lynn Herring's Audrey is a reminder of Y&R's Gloria (Judith Chapman). I mean her arrival was just like ole' Glo's demeanor. Not only they act the same, stories are similar. Both women left their sons, and their eldest were left to take care of younger sibling(s), due in someway because of men! Except Michael left Kevin and couldn't go back and we all know how that happens. But, yeah!

Days of our Lives: James Scott was awesome, you know why! Have him in a tee sometimes stop with stuffy suits. LOL! Listening to DC's AMC podcast, tall, dark and handsome - that description. Anyway, basically loved the Sami sequence with him. I just shiver when I think about Melanie and Nathan slowing down. Don't do this as Phillip and Mel hit the sack soon! Aww poopie... Just but Phillip and Steph back together, you know I don't like run-arounds, just get to the point! I just want to know all about Chloe's poisoning mess, will Kate go down for it? Still, not feeling Dr. Jonas, not one bit.

General Hospital: As my tweeps know, I love, love, love Drew Garrett (Michael), he absolutely killed the scenes today with Sonny! He is now undeniably the top younger actor, challenging the closest in his arena Brandon Buddy (Cole, OLTL) by a longshot, and Zack Conroy who's wearing off on me on GL, and needs to be swiped up as a SORASed Jack's kid on Y&R. Drew shows the emotion and anger that Buddy needs to get to. Okay, to his younger adoptive sis, don't get me wrong Lexi Ainsworth is awesome, and she's the right one for the role. But they are not writing her as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. Kristina may have gone on the run, but seeing as what Michael did, she would have done it even better. Kristina would have went on the run to begin with, or covered the crime up! I'm still reeling over the teen-abuse storyline, Sonny's daughter wouldn't take that. If anything Kristina should give someone else a beatdown! You also know I am a fan of the new Morgan (Aaron Refvem) when the little guy first came on, by his appearance I thought that they may go with another Dylan Cash (ex-Michael) persona, but no, they didn't! Nothing but praise for Johnny and Brandon Barash, still don't like JoLivia. I'm still a JoMax fan! Sarah Brown's Claudia should be mad, but not to the point where she is now. Claudia should be a fierce woman but to the point of redemption a bit. I could see critics panning Sarah Brown cast as Carly's fierce half-sis, but hey, it may have worked better than Claudia.

One Life to Live: Erin Torpey was great, even though I didn't see much of her era live, but Bree Williamson launched the Jessica into a new orbit, and no one would handle the Jess/Tess/Bess like her, and I'm hoping she gets a much-deserved Emmy. This Nash thing definitely peaks my interest. I love Eddie Alderson, and he needs emotional scenes, we see enough of him being irate. Again, tweeps, I wondered to day how Marcy Rylan would do as Stacy. But I'm not gonna bash my girl Crystal Hunt because she worked it today, but I'm wondering why the show didn't introduce Stacy as crazy before! I understand this character may be long run, so find out a reasonable way to redeem her, or send her off. Please but Schulyer and Gigi together, now! Farah Fath was mixed today. At one point I was like "Farah, Farah, Farah", then like "Kill it girl"!

The Young and the Restless: Whoo Stacy Haiduk plays Patty so, so well! Whoever thought AMC's Hannah Nichols had it in her!? I'm just wondering how the show will redeem her. I would chalk it up to everyone find out Patty being Patty -- crazy, but psychotic is so well with her. Clementine Ford's Mac is sort of growing on me. But what if she were someone else. Again, my tweeps saw again today that Billy/Mac magic cannot be reworked the way it was with Ashley Bashouim and David Tom. Poignant Victor and Nikki today, loved it, and Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott. Just wondering if Victor will be revealed behind the MJ thing. Love the Sharon/Phyllis stories, but I can't stand to know that all heck will break loose when the truth comes out. Also my tweeps know that I said Cane had on a very tight shirt today! Wonder who wears 'em tighter, him or ATWT's Casey??

Till Next Time....

AMC's Scott Goes Nudie!

In his interview with Soaps In Depth, Adam Mayfield (Scott, AMC) calls "baring all in a clothes-free scene a piece of cake!" Mayfield says "Apparently I've god a nudie scene coming up in the next couple of weeks." "Apparently, [the other character] and I are out by the pool, and somehow it involves her daring me that I won't go skinny-dipping..They're going to do a side shot of me to insinuate nudity." Mayfield also tells the magazine it is his first moment on camera where he bares all, he had previously stripped down for theater before. My good guess is that the other character will be Brittany Allen's Marisa. Well at least she's not with her sister (may she rest in peace)'s ex! I'm just waiting for her evil streak to come out, because I know Krystal's womb wasn't big enough for two good personalities, they're had to be a David in there somewhere! Interest in Mayfield was peaked a few months ago when many suggested that he was the person indicated in an outrageous blind item by TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco, and fans went crazy.

Rumor: AMC to LA?

Daytime Confidential is reporting
that some of their insiders say that ABC is considering moving the production of All My Children from New York to Los Angeles, where network partner General Hospital is currently filmed. One insider cites a reason as the cost of breaking down sets, and in LA permanent sets will be used. The network is said to be trying to keep making the shows profitable, and may be willing to lose a few stars because of the move." If this happens, will the stars agree to commute, or will big NY based vets Susan Lucci, and Michael E. Knight, or even perhaps the NY based Alicia Minshew not agree to move?Or could they agree to commute, and even LA based ex-cast members such as Rebecca Budig agree to return? A DC insider also reports that at one point, One Life to Live was being considered to move to Florida, but the vet cast refused. This move would perhaps save ABC's three soaps for the time being, as earlier it was rumored that a talk show, hosted by Aisha Tyler would be added to the ABC daytime lineup, but ABC denied the report. Also, even though GH has the lowest ratings, if cancellation were to happen, it is historically the network's most popular soap, while AMC is considered the legacy soap in which longtime stars are identified out of the soap, which OLTL never created those types of stars. Well I'll say about the soaps what I say about the daytime veterans, anything to save 'em!

A Pay Cut for Y&R's Braeden?

Sara Bibel of Fancast is reporting that this past friday, Sony Television's president met with Y&R's cast, crew and production about the show's recent two-year renewal. President Steve Mosko talks about the new renewal will mean more budget cuts, but praised the work of Maria Arena Bell and her brother Billy Bell (who the last time I checked was a creative consultant). Bibel says that the meeting was described as a pep talk to let the staff know their work was appreciated. Notable non-attendees were CBS daytime pres. Barbara Bloom and show star Eric Braeden, even though he was said to be on the set on Friday. Daytime Confidential hears that Braeden, whose contract is up soon, is reportedly already saying he doesn't want a pay cut, and MAB and associates won't back down either. Hopefully, the two sides can carve a deal so Y&R will not suffer the loss of the center of the show, perhaps and daytime! When will some of these execs realize that a few dismissals can work to save a big, veteran name!

Perfomer of the Week: Sarah Brown (Claudia, GH)

Another week, and yet another occasion in which all soap stars bring their best. Although there was one other performance that rivaled this week's winner completely, this actresses' scenes when she finds out about her baby could not be challenged, and therefore earned Sarah Brown the Soaps-Now! performer of the week award for the Week of July 20, 2009. You may not like Claudia or the dozens of her personas, but you can't dispute that she brought it this week. However lets not forget this week's runner-up, the talented actress that challenged her, Y&R's Christel Khalil (Lily), in her performances in her character's cancer storyline. It was close between Brown and Khalil, but it seems as if Khalil will continue bringing her best even better this week.

Now that that's done, we have a slew of honorable mentions, because this week, even if the stories didn't meet your fancy, the actors were great. Again as usual, our favorite duo of rivals, Florencia Lozano and Kassie DePaiva (Blair and Tea, OLTL) brought it in a hand-slapping cat fight, which ended in ripping apart Todd's living room! Also Lozano was great in her scenes with Hillary B. Smith, Eddie Alderson and Shennell Edmonds (Nora, Matthew and Destiny) who didn't do too bad this week either. You also know as usual, I have to give props to my girl Stacy Haiduk (Patty, Y&R) who makes you sympathize with this homeless, garbage seeker, nutcase with a good heart! Also Daniel Goddard who went head-to-head with Billy this week, and longed for his wife, and his distraught father-in-law Neil (Kristoff St. John), who was determined to keep him away! I also was so, so impressed with Tonya Lee Williams (Liv) this week, especially in Friday's final scene. I wish she was on contract, and had a smokin' front-burner storyline.

Now as we go to GH territory, we have Brandon Barash (Johnny) who supported his sister this week, and comforted Sonny's youngest, Aaron Refvem's Morgan, who had to have broken everyone's heart this week! I was just anticipating Morgan to run in the arms of Drew Garrett's Michael, that would have been a heartwrenching scene! Even though we didn't see that Garrett did fantastic as usual, and also did he and Refvem's on-screen sis Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), who I applaud for her scenes with her mother and sister, not in the scenes with that slob of a boyfriend she has.

Now to GL, who I really haven't been giving attention in the POW's but this week, I'm going to give them some dap too. Kim Zimmer (Reva) and Mandy Bruno (Marina). Now to ABC's All My Children which storyline brings down all the actors in it. However, no one can dispute that Alicia Minshew (Kendall), no matter if you don't like the way they like Kendall, if you don't like the character's storylines, Minshew brings her talent to the plate every single time! Now to DAYS, don't think I am oh so intrigued by the Chloe's poisoning storyline, even though I've had enough of Dr. Daniel Jonas. I applaud Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), Jay Kenneth Johnson (Phillip), and Lauren Koslow (Kate), but the best on the show this week was the incomparable Molly Burnett (Melanie) who slapped Stephie and just proves that she is a talented hair model to be reckoned with! Thanks to the talented readers of Daytime Confidential, I didn't have to do a poll this week! Lol. Btw, just wait my boy Thom Bierdz (Phillip, Y&R) is going to bring it one day, just wait and see! Also, they didn't make it to HM, but i'm definitely giving credit to Sean Kanan (Deacon, Y&R) and Rick Hearst (Whip, B&B) for bringing sensation to their respective shows.

Until Next Week....

Wednesday Video Recaps

OLTL: Loved Kish today, especially Kyle. But Cris seriously needs a clue if he didn't figure that Kyle & Fish had a sexual relationship after what he told him. - (1st Clip) If you don't know by now, I was highly unfavorable of Starr & Cole today, so I didn't post that, and that was about it that was happening, besides the Stacy pregnancy "bombshell".
Y&R:
Posted Nick scenes for the sole purpose of the scene in which Nikki and Nick contemplate if Adam is a cross-dresser! (2nd clip). Loved "Damber today" (3rd clip), and Adam eases his way out of another situation and throws MJ under (4th clip)!
GH: Claudia suffered head trauma, and wants to save her son! Sonny feels bad. (5th clip) I don't know if the Carly clip is included, but she passes out!
AMC: Taylor/Tad/Jamanda scens today. (6th and 7th clips) Not much important about the murder mystery today.
I would post DAYS, but I don't see that until in the morning, so I may perhaps post a clip tomorrow.

DAYS' Arianna recast with Passions alum!

In a recent turn of events Soap Opera Digest is reporting that DAYS' Felisha Terrell (Arianna) has been let go, and will be recast with Ex-Passions star Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa, PAS). She will again be playing sister to Galen Gering (Rafe, DAYS; ex-Luis, PAS), and love interest to Eric Martsolf (Brady, DAYS; ex-Ethan, PAS). I was just warming up to Felisha Terrell and Arianna! I'm not a Passions fan, so I am on the fence with Hartley. It will take me a while, since this news stunned me that my new fav Terrell would be recast! This news comes just on the heels of Terrell being featured on NFL star Terrell Owens' new VH1 reality show Monday night as T.O.'s ex-girlfriend. We wish her the best luck in the future, and I hope Hartley does will in the role. But enough of her, we all know her husband Justin Hartley (ex-Fox, PAS) is on Smallville now, but would it hurt to bring him on too as one of Sami's brothers Eric or Rex.
