In reality, he has shown the resiliency of the character for which he is known. Stenbeck has been killed five times on As The World Turns. He fell out of a cargo plane, was shot twice, went down in a helicopter crash and tumbled off a lighthouse. But, somehow, he always returned. After his graduation from The University of Mississippi, Herrera headed to New Orleans to get a feel for big city life. Once he got adjusted, he set off for New York and studied acting under Stella Adler while waiting tables. ATWT came calling in 1980 and the rest is history. Herrera, however doesn't see James Stenbeck as a villain,
He is a European aristocrat. I've known some of those guys. You think laws mean anything to them? James looked at most people as though they were real stupid. If he wanted something they had, he took it. But he also felt justified ... that he was right in his heart, soul and mind. When the success came, so did the disease. He has been in remission since 1999 and credits his brother's immune system for keeping him alive. His medical case brought him to the forefront of stem cell research and in 2005 he testified about the importance of it on behalf of Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania. His book, The Cancer War, can be read online for free at TheCancerWar.com.
Check the latest ATWT scoop from this week's Suds Report:
• As Suds reported exclusively a few weeks back, Emmy-nominated actress Meredith Hagner is indeed leaving World Turns (smart girl!). However, according to a couple of sources, David Kreizman has changed his mind and won’t be killing off Liberty. Instead, the role will be recast. Apparently, a casting breakdown for a 16-18 young female with a “hard edge” has already been released. Smart move, David.Read more...
• Nuke fans, rejoice: Word from the Brooklyn set is that Noah’s blindness is only temporary.
• Is Marnie Schulenburg out? Sources close to the actress relay that Marnie is seriously considering leaving when her contract expires in February. So perhaps instead of killing Liberty the show may off Alison instead. I pray this is true so I don’t have to keep looking up how to spell the name of one of Oakdale’s worst recasts ever!
• Holy Kreiz! Take this gossip with a grain of salt, World Turns fans. The growing buzz is that the venerable CBS sudser will be renewed for one more year! No joke. When Suds Report contacted our CBS sources for confirmation, several insiders claimed it’s pretty much a done deal but nothing will be announced until after November Sweeps. “We can’t cancel World Turns so soon after Guiding Light,” explains one network mole. “I don’t watch the show but everyone here says World Turns has gotten its act together creatively so the thinking is to give it another year.” Ya think?
Noah's Blind, Rosanna proposes, and is that?????.....Yes, Felicia Forrester gets airtime on ATWT!!!!

Sara Bibel is reporting that Paul Leyden will be returning as Simon Frasier on ATWT. Frasier has played the role off and on since 2000, and most known for being Terri Colombino (Katie)'s husband. In her interview with Bibel, Colombino said:
I can’t believe you have been with the show for ten years. It seems like only yesterday Katie was losing her virginity to Simon in the back of a car.
I know! And I love Paul Leyden. He’s coming back for alittle while.
He is? When is that going to happen?
He’s filming in the next month and we’re about two months ahead so it’s not going to probably air until around Christmas.
Colombino also revealed what has beem keeping Leyden busy since his last stint on ATWT. “There’s a horror film he wrote that’s coming out [in January] that’s called The Factory. It stars John Cusack.”

Nelson Branco has big ATWT news in this week's Suds Report.
Could Mark Collier (ex-Mike #2, ATWT) be returning to the soap? Collier is arguably the most identifiably in the role of Mike Kasnoff, the role he played on ATWT from 2002-2007. The role was originally portrayed by Shawn Christian (Daniel, DAYS) from 1994-1997 and recently by newcomer Jon Prescott in 2008.With Austin Peck (Brad) on his way out, Katie needs a new love interest. In the past, World Turns has asked Mark Collier (ex-Mike) to return to the CBS sudser, but he has always declined. However, the sexy and hung actor has had a change of heart! Word is that Collier has agreed to return to the show.

Speaking of Austin Peck (Brad), the actor is so hated by his cast that he had to sit at the DAYS table at the Emmy dinner. “The World Turns cast despises him so much that they refused to be near him during the Emmys. No one would talk to him. He’s being ostracized. They think he is the scum of the earth,” says one of Peck's former DAYS co-stars. Hey, it takes two to have an affair, people! Peck’s getting a bad rap, if you ask me.
Finally, someone spoke the truth.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: Austin comes back to pick up Nicole after the truth is found out, which sparks jealousy in Sami.
We Love Soaps got the chance to talk to AMC's Jacob Young (JR), Y&R's Stacy Haiduk (Patty), ATWT's Meredith Hagner (Liberty) and DAYS' James Reynolds (Abe) on the Emmy red carpet.
This is what's hit the web now, I'll post anything else that comes up.
Vincent Irizarry and Jeff Branson's win speeches, Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann presenting Best Supporting Actress to Tamara Braun. Patrick Duffy presents Lead Actress to Susan Haskell. Susan Lucci presents Lead Actor to Christan LeBlanc. Jay Kenneth Johnson and James Scott present OLTL with Best Directing. Billy Miller and Elizabeth Hendrickson present Julie Marie Berman with Outstanding Younger Actress. Also included is the GL tribute tidbit.
CBS caught up with Meredith Hagner (Liberty), Van Hansis (Luke), Marie Wilson (Meg), Jake Silbermann (Noah), Jon Lindstrom (Craig), Ewa da Cruz (Vienna), Colleen Zenk Pinter (Barbara)

We Love Soaps has a new post up indicating that Tom Pelphrey (Jonathan, GL) is joining ATWT. We'll keep you posted.
Well looks like Soaps-Now went 1 (technically 2)/9 for all of the categories I predicted. LOL. But here's how it went down.
In the category I predicted correctly, One Life to Live won Outstanding Directing up against Days of our Lives and All My Children.
I was wrong for Outstanding Writing which I thought would go to One Life to Live or The Bold and the Beautiful, in a surprising move the award went to General Hospital. All My Children was also nominated.
Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC) and Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL) shared the Supporting Actor Award, which wasn't really surprising even though Jacob Young (JR, AMC) was my favorite. I predicted Branson to win and then ranked Irizarry after Young. Those three were competing against also Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH) and Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT).
I predicted that there would be a close battle between Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, GH) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH), and that Storms would pull it out in the end. However it was her co-star Berman who pulled it away and won the Outstanding Younger Actress award. Also up for the award was Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea, DAYS), Meredith Hagner (Liberty, ATWT), and Emily O'Brien (Jana, Y&R).
In arguably the biggest shocker of the night, Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS) took away the Outstanding Supporting Actress award, after several had predicted Williamson undoubtely had the award sealed away, but there was indication that Braun may get the award, and she did. Other nominees were Julie Pinson (Janet, ATWT), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC) and Alicia Minshew (Kendall, AMC).
Darin Brooks (ex-Max, DAYS) won Outstanding Younger Actor, and I unsuccessfully predicted Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC), whom I was rooting for, but Brooks winning was not surprising. Other noms were Blake Berris (ex-Nick, DAYS), EJ Bonilla (Rafe, GL), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R)
In a sort of not so surprising turn of events, Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL) took away the Outstanding Lead Actress award! Haskell was not shorthanded during many predictions, however her fellow vet nominess Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay, Y&R) had been predicted to win gold. Also up for the award were Maura West (Carly, ATWT), and Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B).
In another not-surprise, even though like me, many people were rooting for the wonderful Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS), academy-favorite Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R) won the Outstanding Lead Actor award. Also nominated were Tony Geary (Luke, GH), Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, GL) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC).
Even though I said B&B SHOULD win, I predicted that AMC's CGI tornado would win perhaps. But The Bold and the Beautiful did steal the top award from All My Children and Days of our Lives.
Outstanding Drama Series
Who would have competed from jump start: Y&R would have won hands down if they submitted Sabrina's funeral, Victor and Nikki in Mexico, or Kay's death. You know, OLTL wasn't bad during Nash's death and the aftermath of Dorian's takeover, Sarah's plunging down the river, or the Bitchy Bangs' wedding.
Who should win: B&B's acting, great storylines (ex. Katie and Storm) should propel the #2 sudser in America to the top prize.
Who will win: However AMC's CGI tornado which received mixed reviews from critics could very well in the prize. I didn't think it was too shabby, and we lost faux Babe. DAYS plane crash was great but I don't think it's a lock.
Ranking the noms: 1) B&B, 2) AMC, 3) DAYS
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 8, AMC - 6, DAYS - 4
Outstanding Directing
Who should win: Even though DAYS plane crash was done well, OLTL's Who Wants to be a Millionaire-esque seen should prevail.
Who will win: AMC's tornado has a shot of taking the gold with the perfection that was DAYS and OLTL.
Ranking the noms: 1) DAYS, 2) OLTL, 3) AMC
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): DAYS - 6, OLTL -6, AMC -4
Outstanding Writing
Who should win: B&B, OLTL is close.
Who will win: B&B, but pulling up for the underdog, OLTL may take the prize.
Ranking the noms: 1) OLTL, 2) B&B, 3)AMC 4)GH
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 7, OLTL- 7, AMC-3, GH-2
Outstanding Lead Actress
Who should win: This category is hands down the most competitive category, and I see two possible "should-wins" in AMC's Debbi Morgan and Y&R's Jeanne Cooper. OLTL's Susan Haskell should come up pretty good too.
Who will win: It will be a tough battle between Cooper and Morgan but I think Jeanne Cooper will prevail.
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeanne Cooper, 2)Debbi Morgan, 3)Susan Haskell, 4)Susan Flannery, 5) Maura West
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Cooper - 8, Morgan- 7, Haskell-6, Flannery-3, West-1
Outstanding Lead Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: It would have been a battle between Trevor St. John (Todd, OLTL) and Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R)
Who should win: DAYS' Peter Reckell absolutely. Y&R's LeBlanc has a slim upset chance.
Who Will Win: Reckell should pull the overall victory. LeBlanc could easily challenge though, and emmy fave GH's Anthony Geary. Although I even think AMC's Thorsten Kaye's scenes or GL's Daniel Cosgrove's could challenge that court ordeal dream sequence with Luke. Emmy favies Geary and LeBlanc don't need to take a trophy this year.
Ranking the noms: 1) Peter Reckell, 2) Christian LeBlanc, 3)Daniel Cosgrove, 4) Thorsten Kaye, 5) Anthony Geary
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Reckell - 8, LeBlanc - 5, Cosgrove- 3, Kaye-1, Geary-5
Outstanding Supporting Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: I don't think I've said this before, but I'm not a Kathy Brier fan, but I was soon turned into one when she changed her hair, and had to admit he might could have made this list.
Who should win: Bree Williamson performed brilliantly as first of all flipping out after Nash's death, then as Jess and her alters, and she deserves to win gold this year.
Who will win: Definitely, no doubt about it Williamson will take home the trophy this year. Tamara Braun will strongly contend as another wack, Ava on DAYS. If heavy hitter Williamson and Braun weren't in the category, the under-under dog Mellissa Claire Egan may have had a chance as another wack yet again Annie on AMC, and maybe Alicia Minshew as AMC's Kendall. I wasn't too sold on ATWT's Julie Pinson, but hey, like I say I'm not an avid ATWT fan.
Ranking the noms: 1)Bree Williaamson, 2)Tamara Braun, 3)Melissa Claire Egan, 4)Alicia Minshew, 5) Julie Pinson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Williamson - 9, Braun -3, Egan - 3, Minshew -2, Pinson-1
Outstanding Supporting Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Sad shame Y&R's Michael Graziadei wasn't on here.
Who should win: Almost every pundit is betting on GL's Jeff Branson, who was great. But however, I'm going for a semi-equaled Jacob Young from AMC after Babe's death.
Who will win: As much as I'm rooting for Young and hoping he wins, the Academy will most likely go with Branson or ATWT's Van Hansis, who has done better in the past. Sorry Bradford Anderson but comedic won't win gold. Let's go Young!
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeff Branson, 2)Jacob Young, 3)Vincent Irizarry, 4)Van Hansis, 5)Bradford Anderson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Branson-7, Young-6, Hansis-4, Irizarry-4, Anderson-2
Outstanding Younger Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: OLTL's Kristen Alderson has a case for a lawsuit to go down!
Who should win: GH's Kirsten Storms. However he co-star Julie Marie Berman's performances will challenge.
Who will win: It will be a Storms/Berman duel but I'm pulling for Kirsten but Julie may pull it out in the end.
Ranking the noms: 1)Kirsten Storms, 2)Julie Marie Berman, 3)Emily O'Brien, 4)Rachel Melvin, 5)Meredith Hagner
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Storms -8, Berman-7, O'Brien -4, Melvin-4, Hagner-2
Outstanding Younger Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Not no way a case like Alderson has against the academy, but Brandon Buddy from OLTL should be mad as heck too! However, performances as druggy Cole should have him here next year. But we said that about Kristen Alderson too, and is she on this list?
Who should win: I'm all for Cornelius Smith, Jr. of AMC for the win!
Who will win: Great performers like ex-DAYS stars Blake Berris and Darin Brooks may steal the prize, along with Y&R's Bryton James.
Ranking the noms - 1)Cornelius Smith, Jr, 2)Darin Brooks, 3)Blake Berris, 4)Bryton James, 5)EJ Bonilla
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Smith- 6, Brooks - 6, Berris - 6, James- 4, Bonilla -1
