Y&R Promo: Gettin' Down & Dirty

Is Y&R attempting to restore itself after those less than stellar months. Random thoughts: Felt for Jill so bad, don't like her and Kay enemies. AND BRING ON STEPHEN NICHOLS PLEASE! No discredit to William Russ, but not what I'm looking for in this businessman & Kay's son. Good luck in the future to you though!

Soaps-Now's 2009 Daytime Emmy Predictions!

Outstanding Drama Series
Who would have competed from jump start: Y&R would have won hands down if they submitted Sabrina's funeral, Victor and Nikki in Mexico, or Kay's death. You know, OLTL wasn't bad during Nash's death and the aftermath of Dorian's takeover, Sarah's plunging down the river, or the Bitchy Bangs' wedding.
Who should win: B&B's acting, great storylines (ex. Katie and Storm) should propel the #2 sudser in America to the top prize.
Who will win: However AMC's CGI tornado which received mixed reviews from critics could very well in the prize. I didn't think it was too shabby, and we lost faux Babe. DAYS plane crash was great but I don't think it's a lock.
Ranking the noms: 1) B&B, 2) AMC, 3) DAYS
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 8, AMC - 6, DAYS - 4

Outstanding Directing
Who should win: Even though DAYS plane crash was done well, OLTL's Who Wants to be a Millionaire-esque seen should prevail.
Who will win: AMC's tornado has a shot of taking the gold with the perfection that was DAYS and OLTL.
Ranking the noms: 1) DAYS, 2) OLTL, 3) AMC
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): DAYS - 6, OLTL -6, AMC -4

Outstanding Writing
Who should win: B&B, OLTL is close.
Who will win: B&B, but pulling up for the underdog, OLTL may take the prize.
Ranking the noms: 1) OLTL, 2) B&B, 3)AMC 4)GH
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 7, OLTL- 7, AMC-3, GH-2

Outstanding Lead Actress
Who should win: This category is hands down the most competitive category, and I see two possible "should-wins" in AMC's Debbi Morgan and Y&R's Jeanne Cooper. OLTL's Susan Haskell should come up pretty good too.
Who will win: It will be a tough battle between Cooper and Morgan but I think Jeanne Cooper will prevail.
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeanne Cooper, 2)Debbi Morgan, 3)Susan Haskell, 4)Susan Flannery, 5) Maura West
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Cooper - 8, Morgan- 7, Haskell-6, Flannery-3, West-1

Outstanding Lead Actor

Who would have competed from jump start: It would have been a battle between Trevor St. John (Todd, OLTL) and Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R)
Who should win: DAYS' Peter Reckell absolutely. Y&R's LeBlanc has a slim upset chance.
Who Will Win: Reckell should pull the overall victory. LeBlanc could easily challenge though, and emmy fave GH's Anthony Geary. Although I even think AMC's Thorsten Kaye's scenes or GL's Daniel Cosgrove's could challenge that court ordeal dream sequence with Luke. Emmy favies Geary and LeBlanc don't need to take a trophy this year.
Ranking the noms: 1) Peter Reckell, 2) Christian LeBlanc, 3)Daniel Cosgrove, 4) Thorsten Kaye, 5) Anthony Geary
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Reckell - 8, LeBlanc - 5, Cosgrove- 3, Kaye-1, Geary-5

Outstanding Supporting Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: I don't think I've said this before, but I'm not a Kathy Brier fan, but I was soon turned into one when she changed her hair, and had to admit he might could have made this list.
Who should win: Bree Williamson performed brilliantly as first of all flipping out after Nash's death, then as Jess and her alters, and she deserves to win gold this year.
Who will win: Definitely, no doubt about it Williamson will take home the trophy this year. Tamara Braun will strongly contend as another wack, Ava on DAYS. If heavy hitter Williamson and Braun weren't in the category, the under-under dog Mellissa Claire Egan may have had a chance as another wack yet again Annie on AMC, and maybe Alicia Minshew as AMC's Kendall. I wasn't too sold on ATWT's Julie Pinson, but hey, like I say I'm not an avid ATWT fan.
Ranking the noms: 1)Bree Williaamson, 2)Tamara Braun, 3)Melissa Claire Egan, 4)Alicia Minshew, 5) Julie Pinson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Williamson - 9, Braun -3, Egan - 3, Minshew -2, Pinson-1

Outstanding Supporting Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Sad shame Y&R's Michael Graziadei wasn't on here.
Who should win: Almost every pundit is betting on GL's Jeff Branson, who was great. But however, I'm going for a semi-equaled Jacob Young from AMC after Babe's death.
Who will win: As much as I'm rooting for Young and hoping he wins, the Academy will most likely go with Branson or ATWT's Van Hansis, who has done better in the past. Sorry Bradford Anderson but comedic won't win gold. Let's go Young!
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeff Branson, 2)Jacob Young, 3)Vincent Irizarry, 4)Van Hansis, 5)Bradford Anderson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Branson-7, Young-6, Hansis-4, Irizarry-4, Anderson-2

Outstanding Younger Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: OLTL's Kristen Alderson has a case for a lawsuit to go down!
Who should win: GH's Kirsten Storms. However he co-star Julie Marie Berman's performances will challenge.
Who will win: It will be a Storms/Berman duel but I'm pulling for Kirsten but Julie may pull it out in the end.
Ranking the noms: 1)Kirsten Storms, 2)Julie Marie Berman, 3)Emily O'Brien, 4)Rachel Melvin, 5)Meredith Hagner
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Storms -8, Berman-7, O'Brien -4, Melvin-4, Hagner-2

Outstanding Younger Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Not no way a case like Alderson has against the academy, but Brandon Buddy from OLTL should be mad as heck too! However, performances as druggy Cole should have him here next year. But we said that about Kristen Alderson too, and is she on this list?
Who should win: I'm all for Cornelius Smith, Jr. of AMC for the win!
Who will win: Great performers like ex-DAYS stars Blake Berris and Darin Brooks may steal the prize, along with Y&R's Bryton James.
Ranking the noms - 1)Cornelius Smith, Jr, 2)Darin Brooks, 3)Blake Berris, 4)Bryton James, 5)EJ Bonilla
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Smith- 6, Brooks - 6, Berris - 6, James- 4, Bonilla -1

Y&R's Kay Will Get her Daughter!

Jeanne Cooper along with Greg Rikaart (Kevin), Daniel Goddard (Cane) and Christian LeBlanc (Michael), appeared at The Silver Star Casino and hinted at something that will have Y&R fans guessing!

“You know, Jill is not my daughter. Well, we’re going to find out who really is my daughter… so start guessing!”

So, who is it?? Nikki? Gloria? They fit in the age range, or even Patty? What if it is someone currently off the canvas? I just thought a few months back when the Jill reveal came out that, "What if Nikki is Kay's daughter?" I could see Glo now, Gloria Abbott Bardwell Chancellor! LOL. Nick and Victoria would be some heckified heirs - Newman-Chancellors!

Performer of the Week: Florencia Lozano (Tea, OLTL)

Last week, I requested that everyone stepped their game up this week -- and everyone brought their A game! This led to a decision that almost took all weekend to make, even with the influence of a reader's poll. Thanks to everyone who voted, and helped! But that laughing, crying, yelling performance that she gave on Friday to Todd was the best performance of the week, and therefore earned Florencia Lozano the Soaps-Now! Performer of the Week Award for July 13, 2009!
That look she had when she saw Todd and Blair in the cabana. Then that horrific yelling turned into laughing with tears, then pushing Todd into the pool. But is she really done with Todd? Not only was her Friday awesome, but her Tuesday was also when she interrupted the Cramer/McBain/Manning family breakfast. Congrats to Lozano, who also shared the award with Kassie DePaiva (Blair, OLTL) for the week of June 22.

Leading the pack of runner-ups is 3-time nominee Drew Garrett (Michael, GH) who couldn't have delivered a better performances Thursday and Friday, in conflict with Kristina's boyfriend Kiefer, and later Kristina herself, and also dealing with Kiefer on Wednseday. Close behind is ATWT's Maura West (Carly) who finally caved into going to rehab and admitting she had a problem, and Y&R's own 3-time nominee and past winner Stacy Haiduk (Patty) who never fails bringing our favorite daytime psycho up to par. Rounding out the runner-up category are 2-time nom Chrishell Stause (Amanda, AMC), who finally decided she needs to see her baby, Daniel Goddard (Cane, Y&R) dealing with seeing all of the people he has hurt, and deciding to leave town, and Mick Hazen (Parker, ATWT) who begged his mother Carly to get help this week.

This week's honorable mentions include Allison Sweeney and Arianne Zuker (Sami & Nicole, DAYS) who made an unlikely duo this week! They are awesome friendly with each other, and just wait till the truth about Sydney comes out! Also impressive this week were 3-time noms and last week's winners Tricia Cast and Jeanne Cooper (Nina & Kay, Y&R) who never cease to impress. Ellen Dolan (Margo, ATWT) had remarkable performances this week. Y&R's Christel Khalil (Lily) did a great job this week, and leaves us to think about how she'll do when Lily actually battles cancer. Last but not least, our last honorable mention is Jay Kenneth Johnson (Phillip, DAYS) who edged out Evan Alex Cole (Hunter, ATWT) for this position but I couldn't help but mention him also. But Jay was brilliantly sympathetic as Phillip this week.

Btw, she didn't make it to become a honorable mention, but that was a heck of a beatdown that Laura Wright (Carly, GH) gave to the country club manager on Friday! Just sayin xD

Until next time...!

Performers of the Week: Tricia Cast, Jess Walton, Jeanne Cooper (Nina, Jill, Kay, Y&R)

From her first scenes at the beginning of the week, undoubtedly moved by their performances, Tricia Cast, Jess Walton, and Jeanne Cooper all earned the Soaps-Now! Performer of the Week Award for the week of July 6, 2009! At first it was a struggle,

An honorable mentions this week include: Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R). I know, I know, but I had to give it to her just for her reaction when she gets a peek of some Radam action.

Not much of a POW this time, everyone was about equal. The Phillip return scenes really just beat everything else out! Hopefully this week everyone will step their game up.

John Driscoll at Y&R

John Driscoll (Chance, Y&R) goes behind the scenes at his first few days on the show. It shows him on set shooting his first scene with Daniel Goddard (Cane), Jess Walton (Jill), Tricia Cast (Nina) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay). He also rehearses lines with his good friend Billy Miller (Billy) and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), who looks like she has longer hair like her days as AMC's Frankie/Maggie. I like it!! As it seems as Cane/Billy/Chloe/Lily (Christel Khalil) has cooled off, and pushing Chance into a triangle with Billy and Chloe and possibly Mac (Clementine Ford), would be superb! Y&R doesn't have a past of this, but I hope they do good with this character as they usually do with others, and don't write him into a corner by improvising the "gay dad" storyline with Thom Bierdz (Phillip).

Performers of the Week: Kassie DePaiva and Florencia Lozano (Blair and Tea, OLTL)

As you know, not many Llanview citizens can go up against the suburb's resident bad-boy Todd Manning (Trevor St. John). However, those few include his her heroic and sympathetic sister, Victoria Lord, and his daughter, Starr. However this week, two of Todd's biggest opponents (and also ex-wives), went head to head with each other -- and Todd! After arguing and pulling out tricks on each other at Todd's place, trying to beat each other while hiding their love for the once convicted rapist, they Blair did everything to keep her kids, and Tea pulled the big one by getting leverage over Todd. This is why Florencia Lozano and Kassie DePaiva earn the Soaps-Now! performers of the week award for June 22, 2009. Other key mentions include Christopher Engen, performing at his best before being asked out of his contract at Y&R, Chrishell Stause in the aftermath of her baby's death on AMC, and Tricia Cast, Jess Walton, and Jeanne Cooper for fantastic performances in the Phillip storyline also on Y&R.

Honorable Mentions: Christopher Engen (ex-Adam, Y&R), Brandon Buddy (Cole, OLTL), Stacy Haiduk (MJ/Patty, Y&R), Drew Garrett (Michael, GH), Tricia Cast, Jess Walton, and Jeanne Cooper (Nina, Jill and Kay, Y&R), Chrishell Stause (Amanda, AMC)
