B&B Promo: Hope Don't Know!?

Clearly B&B thought the should rewrite history and have Hope (Kim Matula) not know that Slick Deacon (Sean Kanan) was her father. Not a smart move I should think, especially since it hasn't been that long. Storylineshmorlyines, Steffy doesn't even treat this kid like her sis.

Justin Baldoni to B&B

We Love Soaps is reporting that Justin Baldoni, known for his roles on Everwood and Heroes has been cast on B&B as a new photographer named Graham Darros. Rumor has it that he may have some play in the newly constructed teen scene on the show with Zack Conroy (Oliver) and Kim Matula (Hope). I thought that R.J. was supposed to be recast also? Is this a recast in disguise? I highly doubt it. I'm all about connections to key players on the canvas, but the new people all don't need to be related -- this is an ensemble cast.

Zack Conroy cast on B&B!!

THIS JUST IN, breakout younger actor Zack Conroy (ex-James Spaulding, GL) has been cast on B&B as Oliver, the younger brother of Sarah Brown's Sandy/Agnes, and cousin to Rick Hearst's Whip! At least he has a job, but I still thought he would have killed as Y&R's recasted Kyle Abbott. Nelson Branco   would have liked to see him as a recasted Thomas, but ya know I like my Thomas Forrester played by Drew Tyler Bell.

In a below excerpt of an interview, Brad Bell stated that Steffy needed more interplay. Wonder what's going to happen to Marcus "Ma, your the queen of the Forresters" Walton, which still needs to be recast!! I hope nuHope will being force.

B&B Headwrtier Brad Bell dished to MSN.com that:
What makes you decide it's time to give Hope a case of "SORAS" (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome)?Brad Bell: Steffy was a bit of an island. She was our twentysomething and we needed to round that out, so we brought in Kim Matula as Hope and Zack Conroy as Oliver -- two great, interesting actors who are going to bring a whole new generation to the fore.

In other B&B news, Branco says in his latest Suds Report that B&B may have secured another Emmy for Ann Douglas (Betty White)'s death
• A little late to the party, but I just screened Betty White’s death scenes — and I have to agree Brad Bell may just take his second Emmy Award in 2010. I prefer Bell Junior take home best writing this time around instead of best show. And finally get a chance at delivering an acceptance speech! You know, just to shake things up a little bit. But you know the unpredictable Emmys! Good work, Brad. I’m proud of you. Like your sister-in-law, Maria Arena Bell, you are a master at short-term death arcs. Now, how about the long-term writing of your show?

WHAT!? DAYS' Dylan Patton is OUT as Will is recast!

Ohhh noooooo! Just something else to add on to a day of bad news.  My favorite younger actor in daytime, Dylan Patton, is out at DAYS, according to Soap Opera Digest. It's a shame. According to the mag's site, Chandler Massey will take over the role. An insider tells them  "They just felt they needed to make a change with the story coming up."  This news deeply saddens me, so either I hope the new guy will do good in the role or I may have to be angry with DAYS casting director who has usually been on point in the past few months.

Wishful Casting: B&B had decided to recast Brooke's kids, Hope & RJ. Hope will be now portrayed by. Even though im not an avid B&B viewer, looks like one of the best shots would be to throw him in as R.J., the sole child of Ridge (Ronn Moss) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang)

Daytime Emmy Recap: B&B takes top spot, Williamson upset & MORE!

Well looks like Soaps-Now went 1 (technically 2)/9 for all of the categories I predicted. LOL. But here's how it went down.

In the category I predicted correctly, One Life to Live won Outstanding Directing up against Days of our Lives and All My Children.

I was wrong for Outstanding Writing which I thought would go to One Life to Live or The Bold and the Beautiful, in a surprising move the award went to General Hospital. All My Children was also nominated.

Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC) and Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL) shared the Supporting Actor Award, which wasn't really surprising even though Jacob Young (JR, AMC) was my favorite. I predicted Branson to win and then ranked Irizarry after Young. Those three were competing against also Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH) and Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT).

I predicted that there would be a close battle between Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, GH) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH), and that Storms would pull it out in the end. However it was her co-star Berman who pulled it away and won the Outstanding Younger Actress award. Also up for the award was Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea, DAYS), Meredith Hagner (Liberty, ATWT), and Emily O'Brien (Jana, Y&R).

In arguably the biggest shocker of the night, Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS) took away the Outstanding Supporting Actress award, after several had predicted Williamson undoubtely had the award sealed away, but there was indication that Braun may get the award, and she did. Other nominees were Julie Pinson (Janet, ATWT), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC) and Alicia Minshew (Kendall, AMC).

Darin Brooks (ex-Max, DAYS) won Outstanding Younger Actor, and I unsuccessfully predicted Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC), whom I was rooting for, but Brooks winning was not surprising. Other noms were Blake Berris (ex-Nick, DAYS), EJ Bonilla (Rafe, GL), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R)

In a sort of not so surprising turn of events, Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL) took away the Outstanding Lead Actress award! Haskell was not shorthanded during many predictions, however her fellow vet nominess Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay, Y&R) had been predicted to win gold. Also up for the award were Maura West (Carly, ATWT), and Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B).

In another not-surprise, even though like me, many people were rooting for the wonderful Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS), academy-favorite Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R) won the Outstanding Lead Actor award. Also nominated were Tony Geary (Luke, GH), Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, GL) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC).

Even though I said B&B SHOULD win, I predicted that AMC's CGI tornado would win perhaps. But The Bold and the Beautiful did steal the top award from All My Children and Days of our Lives.

Soaps-Now's 2009 Daytime Emmy Predictions!

Outstanding Drama Series
Who would have competed from jump start: Y&R would have won hands down if they submitted Sabrina's funeral, Victor and Nikki in Mexico, or Kay's death. You know, OLTL wasn't bad during Nash's death and the aftermath of Dorian's takeover, Sarah's plunging down the river, or the Bitchy Bangs' wedding.
Who should win: B&B's acting, great storylines (ex. Katie and Storm) should propel the #2 sudser in America to the top prize.
Who will win: However AMC's CGI tornado which received mixed reviews from critics could very well in the prize. I didn't think it was too shabby, and we lost faux Babe. DAYS plane crash was great but I don't think it's a lock.
Ranking the noms: 1) B&B, 2) AMC, 3) DAYS
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 8, AMC - 6, DAYS - 4

Outstanding Directing
Who should win: Even though DAYS plane crash was done well, OLTL's Who Wants to be a Millionaire-esque seen should prevail.
Who will win: AMC's tornado has a shot of taking the gold with the perfection that was DAYS and OLTL.
Ranking the noms: 1) DAYS, 2) OLTL, 3) AMC
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): DAYS - 6, OLTL -6, AMC -4

Outstanding Writing
Who should win: B&B, OLTL is close.
Who will win: B&B, but pulling up for the underdog, OLTL may take the prize.
Ranking the noms: 1) OLTL, 2) B&B, 3)AMC 4)GH
Likelihood of taking home the prize (1-10, 10 highest): B&B - 7, OLTL- 7, AMC-3, GH-2

Outstanding Lead Actress
Who should win: This category is hands down the most competitive category, and I see two possible "should-wins" in AMC's Debbi Morgan and Y&R's Jeanne Cooper. OLTL's Susan Haskell should come up pretty good too.
Who will win: It will be a tough battle between Cooper and Morgan but I think Jeanne Cooper will prevail.
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeanne Cooper, 2)Debbi Morgan, 3)Susan Haskell, 4)Susan Flannery, 5) Maura West
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Cooper - 8, Morgan- 7, Haskell-6, Flannery-3, West-1

Outstanding Lead Actor

Who would have competed from jump start: It would have been a battle between Trevor St. John (Todd, OLTL) and Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R)
Who should win: DAYS' Peter Reckell absolutely. Y&R's LeBlanc has a slim upset chance.
Who Will Win: Reckell should pull the overall victory. LeBlanc could easily challenge though, and emmy fave GH's Anthony Geary. Although I even think AMC's Thorsten Kaye's scenes or GL's Daniel Cosgrove's could challenge that court ordeal dream sequence with Luke. Emmy favies Geary and LeBlanc don't need to take a trophy this year.
Ranking the noms: 1) Peter Reckell, 2) Christian LeBlanc, 3)Daniel Cosgrove, 4) Thorsten Kaye, 5) Anthony Geary
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Reckell - 8, LeBlanc - 5, Cosgrove- 3, Kaye-1, Geary-5

Outstanding Supporting Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: I don't think I've said this before, but I'm not a Kathy Brier fan, but I was soon turned into one when she changed her hair, and had to admit he might could have made this list.
Who should win: Bree Williamson performed brilliantly as first of all flipping out after Nash's death, then as Jess and her alters, and she deserves to win gold this year.
Who will win: Definitely, no doubt about it Williamson will take home the trophy this year. Tamara Braun will strongly contend as another wack, Ava on DAYS. If heavy hitter Williamson and Braun weren't in the category, the under-under dog Mellissa Claire Egan may have had a chance as another wack yet again Annie on AMC, and maybe Alicia Minshew as AMC's Kendall. I wasn't too sold on ATWT's Julie Pinson, but hey, like I say I'm not an avid ATWT fan.
Ranking the noms: 1)Bree Williaamson, 2)Tamara Braun, 3)Melissa Claire Egan, 4)Alicia Minshew, 5) Julie Pinson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Williamson - 9, Braun -3, Egan - 3, Minshew -2, Pinson-1

Outstanding Supporting Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Sad shame Y&R's Michael Graziadei wasn't on here.
Who should win: Almost every pundit is betting on GL's Jeff Branson, who was great. But however, I'm going for a semi-equaled Jacob Young from AMC after Babe's death.
Who will win: As much as I'm rooting for Young and hoping he wins, the Academy will most likely go with Branson or ATWT's Van Hansis, who has done better in the past. Sorry Bradford Anderson but comedic won't win gold. Let's go Young!
Ranking the noms: 1) Jeff Branson, 2)Jacob Young, 3)Vincent Irizarry, 4)Van Hansis, 5)Bradford Anderson
Likelihood of taking home the prize: Branson-7, Young-6, Hansis-4, Irizarry-4, Anderson-2

Outstanding Younger Actress
Who would have competed from jump start: OLTL's Kristen Alderson has a case for a lawsuit to go down!
Who should win: GH's Kirsten Storms. However he co-star Julie Marie Berman's performances will challenge.
Who will win: It will be a Storms/Berman duel but I'm pulling for Kirsten but Julie may pull it out in the end.
Ranking the noms: 1)Kirsten Storms, 2)Julie Marie Berman, 3)Emily O'Brien, 4)Rachel Melvin, 5)Meredith Hagner
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Storms -8, Berman-7, O'Brien -4, Melvin-4, Hagner-2

Outstanding Younger Actor
Who would have competed from jump start: Not no way a case like Alderson has against the academy, but Brandon Buddy from OLTL should be mad as heck too! However, performances as druggy Cole should have him here next year. But we said that about Kristen Alderson too, and is she on this list?
Who should win: I'm all for Cornelius Smith, Jr. of AMC for the win!
Who will win: Great performers like ex-DAYS stars Blake Berris and Darin Brooks may steal the prize, along with Y&R's Bryton James.
Ranking the noms - 1)Cornelius Smith, Jr, 2)Darin Brooks, 3)Blake Berris, 4)Bryton James, 5)EJ Bonilla
Likelihood of taking home the prize - Smith- 6, Brooks - 6, Berris - 6, James- 4, Bonilla -1

Casting Scoop: Gauthier returns to OLTL; Spears cast on B&B

Soap Opera Digest reported today that Dan Gauthier would be making a return appearance this fall on One Life to Live as Kevin Buchanan. Gauthier is the 12th overall portrayer of Kevin, and first portrayed the character from 2003-2006, and return in 2007 for the characters' grandfather Asa Buchanan's funeral.

Nelson Branco reported this a while back, now SOD is confirming that Aaron D. Spears has been cast on B&B in the contract role of Justin Barber, presumably and rumored to be Marcus's father. He will first air on September 14.

Dayyyynngg! I wish he were still on Y&R! And I don't think I've said this one here before, but I'm a fan of his facial hair. This B&B scene in which Donna works with Katie to help her see if Bill will fall for the trick is great!

MFS's Interview with Morgan Fairchild and Friends

Check out and read and listen Michael Fairman's latest interview!! Fairchild talks B&B, and The City and Search for Tomorrow, as her fellow guest stars on B&B, Jim J. Bullock (Sergei), Alan Thicke (Rich) and Melissa Rivers chime in.

Excerpts:

MICHAEL: What is your character Dottie’s (short for Dorothy) objective on the show?
MORGAN: Well Dorothy’s objective is to get this fashion show in place because she thinks it going to be a great sale for her charity. She wants to do a big charity fundraiser and listen, I live out here in California and we all have seen people in Beverly Hills who are throwing events, and trying to find something new and novel that you can sell tickets on. So she gets the idea of getting these two acrimonious rivals to do a fashion showdown. I kept calling it a ‘smackdown’, but they would not go for it. Basically, she knows that this big face-off will sell tickets, and then I am the recipient of others peoples duplicities.

MICHAEL: You were on many daytime soap operas in your career: including Search for Tomorrow (Jennifer Pace) and The City (Sydney Chase). Do you see any difference to the soaps? Or, is it the same to you now as it was to you back then?

MORGAN: There are a lot of differences. When I stared on “SFT” in 1973, it was half hour show, and it was live to tape. Unless the set fell in on you, you were not stopping. I learned a few tricks that the older actors showed me. You learn more tricks, and that is where it was great for a kid starting out. I had grown up in the theatre. This was the first time I got to do television. The older actors back then, and especially in New York… everybody seemed to come from the theatre. So you were working with seasoned pros. Larry Haines (Stu) was on there… and Mary Stuart (Jo) and had been on forever. She had been a legend for that time period. John Cunningham (Wade), Michael Nouri, and Kevin Kline were also on. Kevin just got out of Julliard with my sister. So you are working with really good actors. So everybody is kind of winging it and learning. I told John McCook when I was doing “SFT” in New York, I would go into the control room on our lunch break everyday, and I would watch our show. “Y&R” came on just before or after that. I felt I knew John from playing Lance Prentiss. Some of the other actors on “SFT” would make fun of me and go, “Why are you watching the show?” I would watch what I did wrong. I learned so much by doing that. By the time I did The City things were a bit different in the way they shot.
