The Buches, Fishfaces and Morascos: Reality in Llanview Thursday

As I have noted earlier, I haven't really given OLTL credit in being basically the top soap in daytime, but after today and previous episodes this week, I'm firm standing behind that this soap is at the top of the daytime ladder. Compared to its nearest competitor, Y&R, OLTL can go to sadly dramatic then ecstatically hilarious, and back to a happy medium in between.

Again as I have noted before, Crystal Hunt and the Stacy storyline is improving, no thanks to JPL or FF, but to Hunt and Amanda Setton who were fantas
tic today and I liked dragging Fish into the scene too! I think Crystal Hunt is making sure Marcy Rylan won't be taking her job anytime soon, who replaced her when she left her old job! Hunt improves in every episode, and now slowly, but surely is at least attempting to living up to deserving her emmy-nod as GL's Lizzie. At first I was hesitant bringing on Amanda Setton on the scene as Kim, but now I'm glad it happened, and now the Stacy story doesn't even seem delusional as it once was.

Then I didn't like Nicholas Rodriguez as Nick as much as today as yesterday, mostly because his shirt was on and he didn't strip down in front of Fish. But he and Kyle weren't too shabby today, as Kyle opens up to him about Fish with the description "short, blond hair & cute." But that Layla walking in on Stacey and Fish after the earlier refuses to keep hold on to Rex and get pregnant. Tika Sumpter was on point, and she beat John-Paul Lavioser x100 in the facial expressions category when Kim told her they couldn't come into the apartment, but I'll get into that later. I'm hoping things change a little soon, because Fish is getting kind of old with all of this stuff, but definitely not Kyle! Brett Claywell brings it every time, and I'm not saying it's Scott Evans, or that it is the storyline of Fish denying his sexuality, I'm just recommending things be mixed up a bit. By mixing up I also hope Nick stays on longer. I began to enjoy Rex apologizing to Schuyler at the beginning until he started acting superficial again, and today JPL pulled out some facial expressions that I wasn't a big fan of, and if you follow me on twitter, I'm addicted to JPL's facial expressions!

Good thing I didn't have a quote of the day, or wrote down Tuc Watkins' lines today because I'd have a page full! The Buchanan scenes were awesome today, and the dialogue was spot on. I even sort of liked Jerry verDorn, whom I even said the other day wasn't one of my favorites as Clint Buchanan. Eddie Alderson was also great today, especially when the reveal came that Matthew asked his brother David's help in funding his trial, which followed Hillary B. Smith's Nora to lunge at her son-in-law! Matthew also agreed to help David for anything else he needs. Bo threatened to arrest Clint for shooting, only for ALL of them minus Matthew to run off David, Markko, and the rest of his crew, with yet another gunshot by Clint!

In other "Buches" news, fellow Buchanans Natalie and Jess had a sort of interesting day in which Jessica tried to communicate with Nash from the great beyond, and Brody tells Nat and Jared his theories on Jess's stalker!

Now to the highlights!

Friday's Observations

I know, I know, I know. It's been like forever! But I have a strategy of doing this better, and writing notes for observations while I'm watching it so I'm not stuck with blank thoughts while writing these. LOL. Well when school's back in that will coincide better, considering I'll be watching these at night. I'm currently watching DAYS, so no observations for today.
Let's begin....
BTW, It's going to be a tough POW this week, every time it seems to be a slower week, everyone brings it the following!

All My Children: Sad that Jennifer Bassey couldn't be utilized more, and she might not even be on AMC no longer that appearing once a year or so because of the NY move. But I will be torn up if Alicia Minshew won't move! But anyway Liza/Marion scenes were great. If your not a Jamie Luner fan because she isn't Marcy Walker fine, but you can't say that the girl doesn't bring it, and needs to bring her tail to Glassell Park when AMC moves, not saying that a Liza in the new AMC would be a top priority, but would be good. I'll post this here because it's the most appropriate place, but I think that they may can invigorate Vincent Irizarry's David Hayward if Finola Hughes's Anna Devane returns to AMC when they make the LA move. I mean Anna's baby Leora died at birth a while back and even today David is crying Leora, Leora, Leora. If her mother could come back then David could really move mountains!

As the World Turns: This is not about today's ATWT, but in my last observations I noted similarities between Audrey/Henry and Y&R's Gloria/Michael. Now there is a even better similarity to add, the crazy fathers, due to next week's reveal that James Stenbeck is Henry's father, Michael's father was considered a criminal (and still is sort of since he returned and left) and definitely Glo's other son and Michael's bro, Kevin's father, Terrible Tom.

Days of Our Lives: I know I said I wasn't doing DAYS, but I was glad we got Lexie and Abe time, I'm seeing that scene right now. BUT PLEASE REVEAL THIS BABY SWITCH, I love Sami/Nicole friends but I'm just ready for the big blow up. Stop this dang Chad from fawning over Mia please and get Kinsey and that other random dude off my screen, now! Dylan Patton and Taylor Sprietler deserve better! Speed up now, please, fast! And most importantly, those horrid gym scenes. I mean we love to see the guns of Dylan Patton and Casey Deidrick, but have them by a pool, when they go back to school have them in a gym like that or something, please! Lastly, cast a suitable love interest for Chad that can work the screen with Patton, Deidrick and Sprietler.

General Hospital: Whooo, It was about time that Mr. Sir met the woman-beater. This thing needs to blow up I want Sonny all over Kiefer! I could have jumped at him myself when he threw that glass and almost hit Molly. I was about to tweet too fast. I thought Molly was going to be like her father Ric, and not give into what Kiefer was trying to pull for her, in like her sister Kristina, who doesn't take after Sonny -- Alexis and Sonny's daughter wouldn't have bought a word that Jerry Jacks said. Anyway, after Kiefer through that glass I was hoping Alexis will come in next week and channel her inner-Cassadine all over that girl. But then we don't want child abuse as one of Alexis' many charges against her. The Morgan & Molly scenes were great though! I was even thinking of them as a cute-little-kid couple to share a little kiss, but then I forgot they were cousins. We're not talking distant either, they are first cousins (well first half-cousins), how could I forget! I'm trying to like Dominic Zamprogna. One part of me likes him as Sonny's kid, and the other part is like ehehh. But I did enjoy he and Spinelli's scenes today. Speaking of the Jackal, can we get at least a few scenes sometimes when he isn't over the top?

One Life to Live: Kish was awesome and spectacular yet again! I haven't even seen that many daytime heterosexual couples kiss like that! Scott Evans brings it and my boy Brett Claywell was just fantastic! I like, and am hoping that the show may have this Cris/Kyle friendship. Please do that OLTL. I good idea for Carlotta thinking Cris were gay were to have her thinking he's with Kyle, but have the two turn out to be like best friends. I would like that. Finally glad this Ellijah fellow is coming on. When will Gigi ever go off on Rex for treating Schuyler that way, for crying out loud he slept with Stacey, whose fiasco is quite heating up a bit.

The Young and the Restless: I love me some Victor/Nikki but I would like they with their respective partners for a little while longer, actually much longer. But keep in mind, this was due to Melody Thomas Scott's contract situation, and the tables may turn back when everything takes a turn. I was heavily bored with Nicholas and Victoria today, but not with Sharon, she was fashion in that ring! Too bad she lost reality and got busted. Anyway, you can't say Eileen Davidson isn't bringing it as a crazy Ashley, even if your ready for it to be up. Loved Adam/Heather scenes today, but they BETTER get back together! It was like a tug of war for Vail Bloom today. One side, Look at Vail doin' her thing, the other, Come on Vail, I know you're acting. But anyway Michael Muhney was good too. Perhaps Adam wants to heat things back up with Rafe now!? Doubt it. lol.

Till Next Time......

Tuesday Observations!

Hi peeps, and welcome to the first edition of Soaps-Now!'s Today's Observations. Keep in mind this is a trial run, and I'm going to see how it works out. I've felt a need to post opinions separately, saving recaps for recapping only. I'll report on the soaps I've watched for the day, which is usually all ABC's and Y&R, and occasionally I'm not a frequent watcher, but I do review B&B, GL, and definitely ATWT, so I'll keep ya up sometimes. For now the summer, I don't see DAYS untill the next morning on SOAPnet, so all DAYS observations will be a day behind. So today's recap will be Monday's episode. However, after the summer, DAYS may turn into a review instead of frequent, like the others. So with all of the explanations over, lets get to it!!

All My Children: For all my "tweeps" I tweeted today that the Stuart storyline makes me feel like I'm running in circles. Same stuff, If I hear Kendall say she's gonna turn her self in on more time....ahh! I feel for Mellisa Claire Egan (Annie), whose most likely begging to be sane, as she's not cutting it when she's not sane, or deranged, outraged or sociopathic. Can't wait till Scott gets out of a suit, the character needs to be developed to Adam Mayfield. I just got my ABC SID today, I think it was a bit late, my re-subscription was late also thought, but anyway to sum up what Chuck Pratt says is that people may be "frustrated" by the ongoing mystery, and that when it breaks, it's going to be BIG! He also says the good thing about the story is that the reveal will be the beginning of the next major arc on the show. Eh, sounds like primetime. He also says anyone who thinks they know who is the killer is wrong, and they have switched it up, and done everything right! He still says that Dixie's death is tied up with Stuart's killer but it's not essential to solving the storyline at all. Whew, that's a lot. We'll just wait 'n see..

As the World Turns: Is it just me or are your first impressions of Lynn Herring's Audrey is a reminder of Y&R's Gloria (Judith Chapman). I mean her arrival was just like ole' Glo's demeanor. Not only they act the same, stories are similar. Both women left their sons, and their eldest were left to take care of younger sibling(s), due in someway because of men! Except Michael left Kevin and couldn't go back and we all know how that happens. But, yeah!

Days of our Lives: James Scott was awesome, you know why! Have him in a tee sometimes stop with stuffy suits. LOL! Listening to DC's AMC podcast, tall, dark and handsome - that description. Anyway, basically loved the Sami sequence with him. I just shiver when I think about Melanie and Nathan slowing down. Don't do this as Phillip and Mel hit the sack soon! Aww poopie... Just but Phillip and Steph back together, you know I don't like run-arounds, just get to the point! I just want to know all about Chloe's poisoning mess, will Kate go down for it? Still, not feeling Dr. Jonas, not one bit.

General Hospital: As my tweeps know, I love, love, love Drew Garrett (Michael), he absolutely killed the scenes today with Sonny! He is now undeniably the top younger actor, challenging the closest in his arena Brandon Buddy (Cole, OLTL) by a longshot, and Zack Conroy who's wearing off on me on GL, and needs to be swiped up as a SORASed Jack's kid on Y&R. Drew shows the emotion and anger that Buddy needs to get to. Okay, to his younger adoptive sis, don't get me wrong Lexi Ainsworth is awesome, and she's the right one for the role. But they are not writing her as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. Kristina may have gone on the run, but seeing as what Michael did, she would have done it even better. Kristina would have went on the run to begin with, or covered the crime up! I'm still reeling over the teen-abuse storyline, Sonny's daughter wouldn't take that. If anything Kristina should give someone else a beatdown! You also know I am a fan of the new Morgan (Aaron Refvem) when the little guy first came on, by his appearance I thought that they may go with another Dylan Cash (ex-Michael) persona, but no, they didn't! Nothing but praise for Johnny and Brandon Barash, still don't like JoLivia. I'm still a JoMax fan! Sarah Brown's Claudia should be mad, but not to the point where she is now. Claudia should be a fierce woman but to the point of redemption a bit. I could see critics panning Sarah Brown cast as Carly's fierce half-sis, but hey, it may have worked better than Claudia.

One Life to Live: Erin Torpey was great, even though I didn't see much of her era live, but Bree Williamson launched the Jessica into a new orbit, and no one would handle the Jess/Tess/Bess like her, and I'm hoping she gets a much-deserved Emmy. This Nash thing definitely peaks my interest. I love Eddie Alderson, and he needs emotional scenes, we see enough of him being irate. Again, tweeps, I wondered to day how Marcy Rylan would do as Stacy. But I'm not gonna bash my girl Crystal Hunt because she worked it today, but I'm wondering why the show didn't introduce Stacy as crazy before! I understand this character may be long run, so find out a reasonable way to redeem her, or send her off. Please but Schulyer and Gigi together, now! Farah Fath was mixed today. At one point I was like "Farah, Farah, Farah", then like "Kill it girl"!

The Young and the Restless: Whoo Stacy Haiduk plays Patty so, so well! Whoever thought AMC's Hannah Nichols had it in her!? I'm just wondering how the show will redeem her. I would chalk it up to everyone find out Patty being Patty -- crazy, but psychotic is so well with her. Clementine Ford's Mac is sort of growing on me. But what if she were someone else. Again, my tweeps saw again today that Billy/Mac magic cannot be reworked the way it was with Ashley Bashouim and David Tom. Poignant Victor and Nikki today, loved it, and Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott. Just wondering if Victor will be revealed behind the MJ thing. Love the Sharon/Phyllis stories, but I can't stand to know that all heck will break loose when the truth comes out. Also my tweeps know that I said Cane had on a very tight shirt today! Wonder who wears 'em tighter, him or ATWT's Casey??

Till Next Time....

Soapgeist's Fearless Predictions

TVGCanada's Nelson Branco's newest Soapgeist is up, featuring Mimi Torchin.

According to the Soapgeist, things look bleak in negotiations between Steve Burton (Jason) and GH. Will a Taylor and Tad (Beth Ehlers and Michael Knight) change the direction going downward her time on the show?

His ATWT fearless Prediction: Riley start his own man-bra line. However I think hunky newcomer Hunter (Evan Alex Cole) would do a better job at that. That would be wonderful for my new and possibly only 'World Turns' guilty pleasure.

Also in the latest Soapgeist it seems as if contract negotiations seem bleak for GH and Steve Burton (Jason). Branco has nothing but praise for my Molly Burnett (Melanie, DAYS) and the premier upcoming triangle between Philip (Jay Johnson), Melanie, Nathan (Mark Hapka), and Stephanie (Shelley Hennig). I also like that he said that Burnett, who some used to call a hair model with too much airtime, is soaring in roles opposite her cast members.
I also enjoy that Nathan has been paired with Melanie, a good start to his soap career, to boost both of their characters. Branco also keeps showing the love for OLTL's Shennell Edmonds (Destiny) and GH's Drew Garrett (Michael) and this week even Eddie Alderson (Matthew, OLTL). Any OLTL fan, non-watchers, or wannabe watchers definitely need to see the Soapgeist's 10 reasons to watch OLTL.

I personally want to find the script writer responsible for writing Y&R's John Driscoll (Chance) and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe)'s lines today during the conversation. I added "during their conversation" because Hendrickson was brilliant as usual today in her scenes with Billy, Jill and Mac. The audacity to have Hendrickson say "Your return was like something out of a reality show" was outrageous. If it were from a reality show, they would have been some wine glass throwing, yelling, and Nina and Kay, and Thom Bierdz's Phillip (still waiting to give a chance) screaming at the top of their lungs. But instead it was shaking hands and "Nice to meet you". I was expecting it to get Maury in the Chancellor Mansion, but instead it was more like a Lame Oprah ripoff. If only Hendrickson's Chloe were in the room to shout "Who's that" we got have gotten the ball rolling. Branco writes of the storyline flop a bit in the Soapgeist, and so did Jamey Giddens in his latest Daytime Confidential editorial, hoping that this was just an off week and Y&R is back to par as usual next week. Well, you know perfection has a few bumps in the road all the time! But perhaps Clementine Ford (Mac) can show me something if she's away from Billy, because I can't help but notice some flames in that toaster oven between she and Daniel Goddard (Cane), but I will dare not break up my Lane for anyone! Once Amber and Deacon jump the broom again, how about Mac and Daniel (Michael Grazcantspellhislastname)?

A Return to Revive For?

The Suds Report says that rumor has it that GH may be plotting to bring back Laura (Genie Francis) and Scotty (Kin Shriner) and possibly bring Scotty's SORAS-ed daughter Selena (last played by Carly Schroder) in tow. Soap Opera Digest hints at this in their latest issue. Even though Sonny's spawn are running haywire all over Port Charles, I wouldn't mind Selena to come back, as Schroder, who is now grown since she portrayed a younger selena, and romance Michael (Drew Garrett), and be a rival to Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth)! That'd be better than introducing is to unknowns like Kiefer. Pictures are of Schroder somewhere between 1997-2003 on Port Charles and now.

Eyeing OLTL's swim guru

If you were eyeing that screen as I was yesterday, and you may have noticed that Blair's swimming instructor, Chad, looked a lot like Jon Prescott, who last played Mike Kasnoff on ATWT. But I had never heard he would be appearing on the show. So I decided to go straight to the source and found out that was indeed him! I would have noticed that for sure, but I missed the part where they showed him close-up yesterday, and Blair asked him to go somewhere private. His site lists the gig as a "stint" so fans, don't get all excited. BUT, wouldn't it be great if Chad were actually C.J. Roberts, Tina and Cord's son!? But then again, you'd think Todd would know his own nephew. But as you think about it, Todd has NEVER seen CJ, has anyone? He left town with Tina in the early 90's as a baby and never came back, but Sarah would mention him every once in a while. But I know TPTB don't have this in mind. RUMORS had it that the man that Kyle (Brett Claywell) would use to make Fish (Scott Evans) jealous, Griffin, who will be played by Nicholas Rodriguez, would possibly be the new CJ. However, this was during a time when the rumors had already assumed that Agim Kaba (Aaron, ATWT) had the role in the bag. With this being a short stint, I doubt that Griffin is CJ, and if the role was intended to be I think they would have cast Agim Kaba. So lets watch Prescott for these few appearances, and like you know that guy that played Wes Granger got extended, so TPTB shouldn't waste Prescott! Even if he's not a canvas reg, I wouldn't mind a month or so as Ms. Cramer's boy toy. As for my ATWT happiness yesterday, I doubt i'll keep up today cause I don't want to see Mason, Nuke, Paul or Geneva Swift!

ATWT Tuesday Recap & Editorial: Boyfriend O' Brother

Quote of the Day
Adam/Riley: Guess I don't have to ask you what's new. You told me you were ready to move on without Casey if it came to it, and it looks like it has.
Allison: Oh, That's not exactly the situation here..not what you're thinking. Hunter's not my boyfriend, he's my brother.

As some of you may know, As the World Turns is near the bottom of my soap world, but recent developments have me wanting to catch up on what's going on. Who knows, could this take a spot on my DVD recorder? Lol. I even saw myself today between OLTL commercials looking at it, especially when I caught that quote. Most think I'm crazy that Maura West (Carly) hasn't been a Performer of the Week candidate, but now that I'm keeping up with this fast-paced soap opera include Carly, Parker (Mick Hazen), Margo (Ellen Dolan) and several others and I re-realize how skillfully they deliver their performances. I may actually may like this style of episode, for ATWT that is, any other soap, it wouldn't be right for them. And also, seeing my two new guilty pleasures, and definitely my top on ATWT, newbies Evan Alex Cole (Hunter) and Tom Degnan (Adam/Riley). This even has me paying attention to Marine Schulenberg (Allison), who I am very critical of, and sometimes think doesn't fit Allison's shoes well. But I can forget mentioning the most wonderful Billy Magnussen (Casey) I love these new actors and their characters, but I wonder why these in while former showstar Agim Kaba (Aaron) dropped to recurring and rarely seen, and Dylan Bruce (ex-Chris) dropped completely! Ah, I'm still not fond of the Jack/Janet pairing, but even though I believe completely a Cady McClain (Rosanna) return to AMC as Dixie would have helped revive the show completely, I would enjoy seeing her on screen for whomever she played. But back to my first of two ATWT guilty pleasures, I hate I missed that office scene with Hunter and Emily, but SoapHunks helped me catch up. Lol. J/s, this aspect of the show will have me semi-tuned in to ATWT, definitely not because of Paul, Dusty, Vienna & Henry, and as you know i'm not a Nuke fan, it's all about that Kish and Radam!

Soo, to what happened today. When Riley rebuffs Allison for treating his brother that way, she tells him that Hunter is actually her brother! Riley thinks if she told Casey it would change things. Casey and Margo argue about Adam. Casey tells Margo that he can't love Riley. But Margo, doesn't want him to make her choose between her sons, and is delighted to have them both here with her. She wants him to keep the secret from his father, and be civil to Riley..er Adam. Adam ends up telling Casey himself that Hunter and Allison are brother and sister. Then he tells his own brother that he will be a jerk if he doesn't talk to Allison. Casey goes and congratulations Allison and Hunter for being brother and sister. Allison thinks he may be insulting her, and says if he is then he should leave. He does, and Hunter tells Allison she shouldn't be with anyone who treats her this way. Back at their house, Casey tells Margo and Adam that he and Allison are through, he leaves out and Adam does too. When Riley sees Allison at the hospital, she tells him that every since he came to town Casey has been angry and secretive, and wants to know what the secret is. He says Casey hasn't accepted her, and tells her not to give up on Casey.

Jack, Janet, Parker and Rosanna are all on the prowl for Carly while she's hiding in a wardrobe from Craig. Carly says she can't stop from drinking and can't be alone. He says when he couldn't find her he went crazy. Later, Craig arrives with a passed out Carly in his arms, as he tells Rosanna about what happened. Carly wakes up and then tells Craig he tricked her! Parker, Jack and Janet come in. Jack and Craig say Carly has no options left, and Janet apologizes for her behavior lately. Carly tells all of them to leave, but Craig says they aren't going anywhere. Carly questions Craig's love for her, and says they are all there to humliate her. Rosanna begs her to get help. She tells Janet that she will win if they send her away. Janet tells her that she has reached her limits of what she can demand of people. Carly tries to leave but Parker stands in her way. Parker says she's not being a mother showing those behaviors. He also tells her if she leaves, she'll never see him, J.J., or Sage again. Jack says he cares about her, but Carly doesn't want to hear it. She cries, when Jack says look at what's become of her. She then tells them that she's not like her father, whom she had to put to sleep at night after drinking. She admits she's out of control, but doesn't want to go away. Janet, Parker, Jack, Craig and Rosanna all say they will help her as she agrees to go to rehab.

Mourning MJ

There was not much going on in the soap world today, except for a pretty facinating Y&R, mostly a continuation from yesterday, but the world stopped when an estimated 1 billion people around the world tuned into the King of Pop Michael Jackson's funeral. The world has lost a great entertainer. He was survived by his parents Joe and Katherine, Siblings: Tito, Jermaine, Le Toya, Janet, Randy, Rebbie, Jackie and Marlon, and children: Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince II "Blanket", 7. The funeral festivities were great at the star studded event including performances by Mariah Carey, Trey Lorenz, Usher, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder and John Mayer. The family spoke unsuspectedly at the end of the service, which featured a breakdown of brother Marlon, and perhaps the moment of the service, when an really unsuspected moment came when daughter Paris cried when calling her father "The best in you could imagine." That moment, in which people will remember forever, as a part of a bigger moment which may never be imitated in history. The pre-emption was necessary.

(L-R: Janet, Paris, Le Toya, Jermaine and Prince Jackson)

OLTL Mini Recap & Editorial: Lord, What a Stacey!

Well all summed up in a few sentences, Cole & Starr's wedding went through fine besides a bump-up when Tea made a grand-entrance, and when John shows up and makes us wait till tomorrow (actually Wednesday now) to see what's happening. Will they get married since Cole's not going to jail? We had some Rex/Gigi talk, and some pop-ups by Schuyler and Stacey trying to get with Rex up in the shower. Also Nattie apologized to Jess about Brody, while Bo encourages Brody to go in the police academy, and John gets the ok to use Cole in the drug bust to get him out of prison. Today's AMC, OLTL, and Y&R were about the same, not storywise, but they mostly had the same one or two plots the whole episode.

Now that that's out of the way, I watched carefully as Crystal Hunt (Stacey) performer today, and no, I still don't think she's lost her touch when she played GL's Spaulding Heiress. I understand that the character of Stacey, truly and sincerely thinks that she and Rex (John-Paul Lavoiser) were meant together. Now if you sit down and think about this for a while, this makes her just as loony as Y&R's MJ (AMC implant Stacy Haiduk)! I mean at least MJ was married and was carrying her victim's child one time! As Stacey seems to some eyes insane, to the writers she's perfectly sane, but with the character being at the point, to the viewer she seems almost unredeemable. But this just makes us glue our eyes to the screen, just to see how they'll bring this storyline out of the gloom. Poor Hunt was miscast, I mean they could have cast her as this unknown sister and foil of Blair. Or perhaps she could have been a mini Tina Lord (Andrea Evans) and the latest installment of Sarah Roberts (last portrayed by Justis Bolding). Speaking of the Lords, how come the only time they want to establish a connection between the Lords and the Mannings is when Viki (Erika Slezak) disowns Todd (Trevor St. John), then again gives into him. Starr (Kristen Alderson) is first cousins to Jessica (Bree Williamson) and Natalie (Melissa Archer) for crying out loud! Viki, Jessica and Natalie should have had their butts at this wedding. They rarely get screen time with Starr, and Jessica is usually gets screen time when she is Tess, and cooking up a nasty scheme with Todd. Take notes Ron Carlivati for your prospering soap!

Y&R Editorial: Chronicling Thoughts on Phillip Storyline & Other Notes

When this news first broke of this again retcon storyline, I was hesitant of it. I had begun to know Daniel Goddard's Cane Ashby as Phillip Chancellor III. But for a long while, the character Cane had ridden through the paradise of not having many troubles on the show, except for the Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) baby-bump up. But more and more as I am beginning to see this on screen, and read up about it, the more I think I may enjoy this recent turn of events. I'm even moving toward perhaps accepting a P3/Rafe pairing, only because I realized how great Thom Bierdz (Phillip) is, but I said accepting, not approving, as this is still a ludacris pairing. But now I see how a hunk Bierdz is, and somewhat more appealing than Daniel Goddard, not to say I don't like him either. As you die-hard DG fans would see this as an insult as I saw all Chris Engen bashes as insults. But this is interesting to have Phillip III gay, instead of automatically going with the younger, Phillip "Chance" Chancellor IV (John Driscoll). It seems a trend now to make the few out actors in daytime portraying gay characters, at Y&R is with Bierdz and One Life to Live with Scott Evans (Oliver Fish). However with making Phillip gay, I wonder how the storyline will be carried out sooner or later when all this fizzles out, because you know if he is with Rafe (Yani Gellman), I won't be able to take it for long. But this is one drawback I have with same-sex stories on soaps. The story starts off with a central character coming out, and a not-known secondary character being introduced, and them in a pairing. However this becomes boring and as with AMC's Bianca (Eden Riegel) she comes to town again over and over with a different partner. This hasn't happened with ATWT's Nuke, but as I am, viewers are wondering when something different will happen with them. So I'm hoping MAB and her hot, interesting, and somewhat weird storylines can prevail to make this work.

For today, as a review of the first 15 minutes of Y&R, I'm absolutely loving it, Thom Bierdz, Tricia Cast and Elizabeth Hendrickson. To see Chloe and Lily (Christel Khalil) both pitted against Cane! And speaking of Chloe, does she know nothing!? First she didn't know Mackenzie wasn't raised a Chancellor, then Phillip walks in and she's like "Who's that?" These are tidbits that need to be tweaked. The Phillip/Nina/Kay/Jill scenes were awesome today, and I wish Kay/Jill could still be related, but no, then they couldn't pair the lovers Billy and Mac together. Boo hoo. I'll have more during a recap.

Introducing Michael Muhney as Adam Wilson

Today was the day! The day in which the recast around the world would take place. Also arguably, in my opinion the most talked about and perhaps influential recast in daytime history. But that may be an overstatment. Adam 2.0 would become in effect as of June 25, 2009. Anyway, most of us had gotten used to Chris Engen and loved his portrayal of Adam Wilson, and stunned when he quit, for what ever those reasons may be. So my heart papitated when I heard Peter Bergman's voice in the background announcing the cast switch-up. Noticeably, I thought Michael Muhney's voice would be deeper, but when he first said "Ashley" I noticed that it wasn't. I also took in notice that it seems as if Muhney was sort of using Engen's interpretation of Adam in his acting. But don't think i'm not giving Muhney the benefit of the doubt. I was reading Daytime Confidential's comments on the recast today, and like another user said, I agree that Muhney doesn't have that boyish charm and demeanor like Engen, nor can anyone see Victor (Eric Braeden) jack up Muhney like he did Engen. Engen would be face to face with Heather (Vail Bloom) and Victor, but now he towers over both of them. But on a positive note, Muhney's version of Adam seems more sympathetic, and looks like the audience will sympathize with him, unlike the sarcasim and love-to-hate attitude Engen had (which we loved!). And Re-Re and Paul had the guy take off his shirt the first day on the job! He's not beating him but Muhney is sure competing with Engen in the looks department, being packed himself. I think Muhney put all he had in today's episode, and I like him, but at the end I was still being left grieving over the abrupt exit of Christopher Engen. So in the end, I give the recast a B- on it's first day, and Muhney a solid B. However, does that last hint of Friday's episode have you excited or what!?
