Tognoni to Y&R?

Lookie here what Daytime Confidential has posted with a scoop from Soap Opera Digest.

This week's Soap Opera Digest has scoop about Tognoni being in preliminary talks with The Young and the Restless. I told y'all the day GL was cancelled Babs Bloom wasn't trying to see Ms. Gina T. head back the Land O' Frons!

Unfortunately, it isn't the role of Victoria Newman (last played by Heather Tom. No that isn't a typo.) Tognoni could be assuming. An insider tells Digest the soap is thinking about bringing a character back to Genoa City that Tognoni would be "perfect" for. Work that mojo G!

Michael Fairman talks with OLTL's Scott Evans and his mother!

Read the full interview with Scott and Lisa Evans which Michael Fairman did for Advocate.com

Excerpts:

Scott, what did your OLTL castmates say about working with and meeting Mom?
Scott:They have not shut up about her, which is fantastic. Everyone in the makeup and hair department has asked, “How is Mom?” She became best friends with David Fumero [Cristian]. He still asks about her, and my mom goes, “How’s David?”
Lisa:I love David. He is such a good boy!

What do you think about Scott’s love interest on the show, Brett Claywell [Kyle]?
Lisa: Brett is great. I met him the first day. He is a great guy and funny. I think Scott is very lucky to work with this group of people. Everyone was interesting and caring. I was so happy my baby gets to work in a job he loves. Scott works with great people, and I am “knocking on wood” as we speak.

Scott told Advocate.com in his last interview that it was easy telling everyone in his family except Chris. Did you know about that?
Lisa:
I did know about that, and it’s hard for them. When Scott came out to his sister and me, it was right after he left high school and got to NYU. He knew he wanted to identify himself by starting college as a gay man. Carly [Scott’s sister] and I were just sort of sitting back waiting going, “When do you think he is going to tell us?” He wanted to do it in person. Chris is not around as much, and when he is, it’s all family, all the time. So when I knew at one point the two of them were driving together from New York, I said, “Ah, I know this will be it. They have got four hours in the car and that’s really good.” I have to tell you something. Honestly, I have not told this to Scott. Chris came to me several times and went, “So, Mom, is Scott gay or what?” And I said, “You know, that is something Scott is going to have to tell you himself.” And he said, “Well, when is he going to tell me?” I said, “Scott probably needs to do it when he can be alone with you.” Chris went, “OK. Well, then I am going to be make myself available as best I can.”

Scott: That is just it. When I did finally came out to Chris, he said, “I am a little pissed.” I said, “Why?” Chris said, “You told everyone else six months ago. Why did it take you so long?” I was terrified to tell him. I look back on it now kind of laughing hysterically, thinking that I thought I couldn’t.

AMC News Update

Look at what Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens has to fill us in on today about AMC news:

A little birdie (Wait, since it's Disney, shouldn't it be a little mousie?) has informed me ABC Daytime Chief Brian Frons is in New York this week for the premiere of his lineup's crowning jewel The View. Also reportedly on the agenda, is a sit down between Fronsie, Julie Hanan Caruthers and daytime's First Lady Susan Lucci about her future on All My Children. An on set mole tells me Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Erica's cougar storyline was put on hold as the soap "worked out contract negotiations", yet was now expected to pick up steam. Hmmm....

In other news from Pine Valley, 90210, don't count Thorsten Kaye out as Zach just yet. Sources say the the actor is still mulling over his options, even as high level ABC executives are pushing for Frons to allow the actor to return to One Life to Live with his Emmy-winning significant other Susan Haskell. Keep checking back with Daytime Confidential as the story develops.

DAYS' Hartley: Arianna isn't like Theresa.

Look what DAYS' Lindsay Hartley (Arianna) had to say when she spoke to Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens.

"This character is nothing like Theresa," Hartley told me on the red carpet outside of the 36th Annual Daytime Emmys. "Arianna is a drug dealer, but she has a strong motivation for what she's doing that you will see very soon. What I love about being on DAYS is that the stories have a resolution. They don't just go on and on without any pay off. You will definitely see pay off with Arianna's story."

Roscoe Born's Back!!? But Where?

Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens is reporting that Roscoe Born will be returning to one of his former sudsers for a top-secret storyline, but doesn't let us know who yet!!

It makes perfect sense that it is peak time for one of Born's alter egos on three soaps to return. His OLTL character Mitch (whom Born played from 1985-1987, then again from 2002-2003)'s daughter Jessica (Bree Williamson) is freaking out because she's being stalked. Y&R's Tom (whom Born portrayed from 2005-2006, and again in a dream in 2009)'s son Kevin (Greg Rikaart) finds out daddy had another son in Ryder (Wilson Bethel). But what if he pops up in Salem as Trent Robbins (Born played in 2008) just as life is getting good for daughter Melanie (Molly Burnett).

Guess we'll just have to stay tuned..

Paul Leyden to make return to ATWT

Sara Bibel is reporting that Paul Leyden will be returning as Simon Frasier on ATWT. Frasier has played the role off and on since 2000, and most known for being Terri Colombino (Katie)'s husband. In her interview with Bibel, Colombino said:

I can’t believe you have been with the show for ten years. It seems like only yesterday Katie was losing her virginity to Simon in the back of a car.

I know! And I love Paul Leyden. He’s coming back for a little while.
He is? When is that going to happen?

He’s filming in the next month and we’re about two months ahead so it’s not going to probably air until around Christmas.

Colombino also revealed what has beem keeping Leyden busy since his last stint on ATWT. “There’s a horror film he wrote that’s coming out [in January] that’s called The Factory. It stars John Cusack.”

Before I saw that Leyden's return was specified as "a while" I thought ATWT had their plan mapped out for filling Austin Peck (Brad)'s void.

OLTL ex-star Mauceri Speaks Out!

Looks like Patricia Maurceri (ex-Carlotta, OLTL) has ended up on FOX News! As reported a while back, and seen on screen this week, Saundra Santiago has taken over the role of Carlotta Vega, which Maurceri has portrayed for the past fourteen years. Reportedly the star was fired after opposing the show's gay storyline. But however Maurceri doesn't claim that with Fox News,

"I did not object to being in a gay storyline. I objected to speaking the truth of what that person, how that person would live and breathe and act in that storyline," she said. "And this goes against everything I am, my belief system, and what I know the character's belief system is aligned to."

Mauceri said she was replaced despite offering changes to the script and hoping for a compromise.

An ABC spokesperson said they were not aware of any such claims by Mauceri, adding such claims "would be frivolous."

Mauceri told FOX News she is exploring her legal options. AFTRA, the actors union that represents her, did not respond to a request for comment.

Go girl! No wonder she's been waiting to speak out for herself.

Is Tamara Braun being courted by Y&R as Victoria?

Could this fantasy come true, is Tamara Braun (ex-Carly, GH; ex-Reese, AMC, ex-Ava, DAYS) talking to Y&R? Here's snip from the Suds Report.

Casting Coach: Is Y&R courting Emmy winner Tamara Braun (ex-Reese, AMC, ex-Ava, DAYS) as a Victoria Newman recast? I can’t say — but will CBS have the balls to fire a pregnant woman? Well, if they don’t have the cajones — then they should buy some. Check out my exclusive sit-down interview with the best executive producer in daytime history, Mr. Paul Rauch, this Wednesday.

Sarah Brown' (Claudia, GH, ex-Carly, GH, ex-Julia, ATWT) is still my ultimate #1 choice for Victoria Newman, but Braun would be the only second there could be!
Well since AMC's moving to LA, it's the perfect time for Heinle's Mia to return and reunited with Frankie and have their SORAS-ed son with them.

Is Kaye really out at AMC?

Nelson Branco has an update in his latest Suds Report on Thorsten Kaye's possible AMC status.

The Suds Report overheard Thorsten Kaye (Zach) telling friends at the Emmys that he will not be making the move to L.A. However, Cameron Mathison (Ryan) has reportedly finally made up his mind — he will be moving to Cali. Not too surprisingly, Susan Lucci (Erica) is still undecided.

ATWT Flashes: Peck News, Collier In?

Nelson Branco has big ATWT news in this week's Suds Report.

Could Mark Collier (ex-Mike #2, ATWT) be returning to the soap? Collier is arguably the most identifiably in the role of Mike Kasnoff, the role he played on ATWT from
2002-2007. The role was originally portrayed by Shawn Christian (Daniel, DAYS) from 1994-1997 and recently by newcomer Jon Prescott in 2008.

With Austin Peck (Brad) on his way out, Katie needs a new love interest. In the past, World Turns has asked Mark Collier (ex-Mike) to return to the CBS sudser, but he has always declined. However, the sexy and hung actor has had a change of heart! Word is that Collier has agreed to return to the show.

Speaking of Austin Peck (Brad), the actor is so hated by his cast that he had to sit at the DAYS table at the Emmy dinner. “The World Turns cast despises him so much that they refused to be near him during the Emmys. No one would talk to him. He’s being ostracized. They think he is the scum of the earth,” says one of Peck's former DAYS co-stars. Hey, it takes two to have an affair, people! Peck’s getting a bad rap, if you ask me.

Finally, someone spoke the truth.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: Austin comes back to pick up Nicole after the truth is found out, which sparks jealousy in Sami.

Melrose Place News: Ashlee wants Locklear to return; Rick Fox joins.

From MTV:

"That's the big question, but none of us know if she's going to come back or not," Simpson told MTV News about the new show, which premieres Tuesday. "I mean, of course everyone would love for her to come back, but we don't know. [It's] up in the air.

Even if the show's original drama queen doesn't return, Simpson promises plenty of new drama. "I had never watched the original 'Melrose Place,' " she revealed. "They had such a good vision for it, and it's a little bit grittier than the original and a little bit more cinematic. There's still good ol' drama, and I was really intrigued by my character."

And there will still be plenty of action going down in the pool. "It's a new apartment complex; it looks similar to the old one. [And we have the] swimming pool," she said. "We've all been in the pool."

From The Hollywood Reporter

L.A. Lakers star-turned-actor Rick Fox has been tapped for a recurring role on the CW's new series.

On the show, a contemporary take on the popular 1990s soap, Fox will play the owner of the restaurant where all the aspiring actors on the show work.

OLTL's Nicholas Rodriguez talks with After Elton

OLTL's Nicholas Rodriguez did a wonderful interview with AfterElton, and talked about baring all on the first day of work, the role he originally auditioned for, how his four-day role got extended into a recurring gig, working with Brett Claywell and much, much more. I encourage you to read the whole amazing article, but here are some excerpts:

AE: What was the audition process like to get the part?
NR:
My very first audition for OLTL was a few months back. I auditioned for the role of Sky [ed note: Brett Claywell, who plays Kyle was first cast as Sky, but the role ultimately went to actor Scott Clifton]. That's the first time I met Frank Valentini [OLTL’s executive producer] and Ron [Carlivati, the show’s head writer]; after the audition process you meet the producers. I guess that wasn't the right fit, but interestingly enough, that's when Brett was there. And I think that's when Crystal Hunt (Stacy Morasco) was doing her test too.

A few months later, I get a call from my agent to come in and audition for this role of Griffin. I got the breakdown: he's Caucasian, good-looking, confident. So I go in and read for it, then we have the callbacks, and then another callback, and then we get to the final callback with Frank and Ron, and it's a room full of Caucasian guys. [laughs]

I'm just sitting there totally relaxed, thinking, "Clearly, I'm not going to get this. They're looking for somebody with blond hair and blue eyes. Lo and behold, later that afternoon, I get the call that says they picked me. I actually think the fact that I didn't think I stood a chance in hell, so I was just completely relaxed, and went in and did my thing, made the difference. The rest is history. It was just supposed to be this little four-episode arc originally, and now it's been expanded.

AE: What was the original plan for the character, and what has it grown into?
NR:
I don't want to give away too much, and I don't really know what was going on in the writers' heads, but I definitely know that after those first four [episodes] were done, Frank said to me that they liked the way it was going and be prepared to stay around for a little bit. And I thought, "Great!“ although I didn't really know what that meant. I'd finished my four and I knew I'd had a really great time, and pretty much immediately I got called and they said they were going to write some more stuff so just hang loose.

A couple weeks went by, and then I got a call saying, "Okay, you're going to film all these episodes." And I got the scripts, and all of a sudden, I'm shooting with all these other people that weren't part of my original storyline. Originally, I was just there to be a third wheel to Kyle and Fish, which is still his main function, but all of a sudden they really expanded him. He now has a job, he has a last name, he's supposed to be an activist as well. So first time back after all that, I'm shooting with six-time Emmy-winner Erika Slezak (Victoria Buchanan). I was just like, "Okay! I didn't think that's where this was going."
