Gibson retires; Sawyer to take over GMA


When ABC's World News Tonight's lead anchor Charles Gibson, retires in January, it has been announced that longtime Good Morning America anchor Diane Sawyer will take over his job in 2010. Gibson co-hosted Good Morning America from 1987-2006. He took over for the late Peter Jennings as World News Tonight after anchors Elizabeth Vargas (current 20/20 anchor) was pregnant, and Bob Woodroof, who still reports as an anchor, was injured while reporting roadside in Iraq. Sawyer has been with GMA since 1999. It is currently unknown who will takeover for Sawyer at GMA. Robin Roberts and Chris Cuomo current co-ancher beside her.
