Daytime Emmy Recap: B&B takes top spot, Williamson upset & MORE!

Well looks like Soaps-Now went 1 (technically 2)/9 for all of the categories I predicted. LOL. But here's how it went down.

In the category I predicted correctly, One Life to Live won Outstanding Directing up against Days of our Lives and All My Children.

I was wrong for Outstanding Writing which I thought would go to One Life to Live or The Bold and the Beautiful, in a surprising move the award went to General Hospital. All My Children was also nominated.

Vincent Irizarry (David, AMC) and Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL) shared the Supporting Actor Award, which wasn't really surprising even though Jacob Young (JR, AMC) was my favorite. I predicted Branson to win and then ranked Irizarry after Young. Those three were competing against also Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH) and Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT).

I predicted that there would be a close battle between Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, GH) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH), and that Storms would pull it out in the end. However it was her co-star Berman who pulled it away and won the Outstanding Younger Actress award. Also up for the award was Rachel Melvin (ex-Chelsea, DAYS), Meredith Hagner (Liberty, ATWT), and Emily O'Brien (Jana, Y&R).

In arguably the biggest shocker of the night, Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, DAYS) took away the Outstanding Supporting Actress award, after several had predicted Williamson undoubtely had the award sealed away, but there was indication that Braun may get the award, and she did. Other nominees were Julie Pinson (Janet, ATWT), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC) and Alicia Minshew (Kendall, AMC).

Darin Brooks (ex-Max, DAYS) won Outstanding Younger Actor, and I unsuccessfully predicted Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC), whom I was rooting for, but Brooks winning was not surprising. Other noms were Blake Berris (ex-Nick, DAYS), EJ Bonilla (Rafe, GL), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R)

In a sort of not so surprising turn of events, Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL) took away the Outstanding Lead Actress award! Haskell was not shorthanded during many predictions, however her fellow vet nominess Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay, Y&R) had been predicted to win gold. Also up for the award were Maura West (Carly, ATWT), and Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B).

In another not-surprise, even though like me, many people were rooting for the wonderful Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS), academy-favorite Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R) won the Outstanding Lead Actor award. Also nominated were Tony Geary (Luke, GH), Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, GL) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC).

Even though I said B&B SHOULD win, I predicted that AMC's CGI tornado would win perhaps. But The Bold and the Beautiful did steal the top award from All My Children and Days of our Lives.
