Performer of the Week: Stacy Haiduk (MJ/Patty, Y&R)
If you follow us on Twitter then you know that I was conflicted on deciding the award yesterday. At first, I was sold on the eventual winner, then I thought of a duo that delivered great performances in a saddening situation, and of another mini diva and hunk. But after delivering killer performances already that day, and that week in fact, remembering when she uttered the lines: "Kitty, Where did you put my pills!?", I knew that hands-down, Stacy Haiduk earned the Soaps-Now! Performer of the Week Award for the week of June 29, 2009! The dream sequence in which Patty recollected walking in on Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (then Donelley Rhodes), losing her baby, and shooting Jack three times was perfect, and the aftermath of it was great. Also not to mention the scene in which she was sorry for hurting Summer, but just had to get her mommy out of the picture!
Other key mentions include the duo of Michelle Stafford and Joshua Morrow (Nick and Phyllis, Y&R) who at one point thought could challenge Haiduk for this week's prize, but couldn't hold up. Also as usual, Tricia Cast (Nina, Y&R) for delivering her scenes in the Pihllip storyline on Y&R. I was also impressed with General Hospital's teen sensations Drew Garrett (Michael) and Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), for scenes this week, especially the later. Oh, and don't forget Ms. J. Luner who I thought was not bad at all this week when she gets her baby, and her great scenes with Colby (Brianne Moncrief), and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe, Y&R), who walked all over Clementine Ford (Mac) this week, who I am forcing myself to enjoy. Laura Wright (Carly, GH) didn't do too bad as a parental unit, and Shelley Hennig (Stephanie, DAYS) is proving she's fantastic pill-popper and can work the screen without bed time with Darin Brooks (ex-Max)! Finally, as you know I thought poor Brett Claywell's Kyle on OLTL was pushed and pulled all over the screen this week because of the whole mess with Roxy, and almost getting trounced by Natalie, then only to see his ex-lover (Shh, your not supposed to know that yet) apparently in another relationship, and he takes a shot to that! Claywell was about the best act this week other than the usual outstanders, Viki, Dorian, Todd, Tea, Starr, and it goes on.
